Not torch related,
Aldi have Taiwanese torque wrenches for $20.
The label mentions metric.
Torque wrenches are normally over $100, the cheapest that I’ve recently seen (and bought) was $58.

Hobby King soldering iron shipped to Australia with the cheapest shipping is $44.51. Soldering iron itself is $16.51. its the cheapest I’ve seen it. I’ve been using one for a couple of years now with a large chisel tip and wouldn’t swap it for quids.
Not sure if people already knew this or not, but after having much trouble finding decent torches in camping stores etc. I have found that Jaycar Electronics actually have some decent ones (from what I can tell).
Oh ok, I had wondered how good they actually were. Cheers for the heads up.
Any way to get any discount from liteshop? I’ve found hkequipment, on ebay and the site, but they are only like $5 cheaper, in which case I’d rather just get them from an official Australian dealer in case anything goes wrong.
I’m after a couple of ThruNite TN4A HI’s
Cheers
With Dick Smith closing down they have some really good prices on NiMh cells, 60-80% off. Unfortunately all the Eneloop and Fujitsu cells were long gone at the Mentone store.
An 8 pack of Eneloop Tones was $8.00, and the Eneloop Family Pack with charger was $12.00
Mentone did have a lot of the DS branded LSD NiMh in AAA, AA, C and D. I grabbed a 4 pack of the D cells to have a play with, I don’t have a lot of faith in them at only 6000mAh, but at $2.5 a cell they’re worth trying in the stock 3xD mag.

I recently purchased two Dick Smith alkaline carry case containing 14xAAAs, 12xAAs, 4xCs, 4x Ds for $5.50 (originally over $40). I would have paid the reduced price just for the battery case. Grab them whilst you still can!!
I didn’t see any of those, only the smaller pack with 6xAA, 6xAAA, 2xC and 1xD for $2.60. I was tempted but couldn’t see any point in a case with a spot for 1 D cell.
If I happen to be driving past a different store I might have a look.
yea i went up the coast fishing and checked a few dickies found some eneloops but i paid $13 for the 8 pack chocolate AAA and i got as family pack for $15 i posted it on ozbargain…
There’s some variation with the Apple phone and ipad chargers. I don’t know where it begin and ends, but check the charger itself. Some only supply 1a (I think aimed at older iphones) and some 2.1a (for newer iphones and ipads).
Thanks guys, yeah I should have mentioned it has to deliver 2.1A as a minimum. I’ll have to check my Apple chargers to see what they deliver. I also thought Apple might have had some kind of restriction or coding somehow on their adaptors to stop it working with other electronics.
http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-350w-230mm-bandsaw_p6210455
Not light related and I’m unsure when it ends but $299 bandsaw selling for $129.
Apparently price matching Aldi on a bandsaw they have but this one has a stronger motor and 2 years warranty.
Not too many left – my local stores out after I got mine.
Bunnings do their prices different for different areas too – on special afaik in NSW and Victoria only.
Hey guys this is a good deal i think if you are looking for a drill. My Ryobi is still good but i have been looking for an impact driver but i also want a multi tool thing… so either i will buy this pack or buy the Triton XT pack! Might i add i need a reciprocating saw to cut branches but i think a mains powered one would be better. So either a second drill or a impact driver to use when i am building and moding lights.

You would need an Apple 12W USB Power Adapter which should provide the 2.1A. Not the 5W, only 1A.
The older 10W will provide 2A which may be OK.
Alrighty lads seeing as so many of yous do metal work. Plus mods and other hobbies check out these deals.
I just bought one of these today Ryobi 370W Bench Grinder / Sande to add to my Ozito bench grinder. I asked the lady why they are on special and she didn’t know. Bunnings just got rid of the Mcculloch line so maybe they will reshape the Ryobi range. The Mcculloch line trimmer and blow and chainsaw where half price but they where sold out when i went.
I am after a Makita belt sander and reciprocating saw. Also an angle grinder i was looking at getting a metabo if any one sees any deals or even second hand let me lads please!
Hey lads another day and another deal! $5 LEDs @ Aldi!
Aldi have LED light bulbs in all different tints from 6500k-3000k.
Also different outputs from like 7-12 watts i think. Plus both the base types Edison and Bayonet types. 600-1100 lumens depending on wattage and tint.
You can get them in dimmable and none dimmable
I just bought a 3000k 12 watt bulb its like 950 lumen output cost me $5 so cheap! A bulb like this would have been $12-$14 dollars at Woolies or Coles. Just a few weeks ago i bought a Phillips bulb 7w for $5.50 it was like half price.
All the different wattage’s and output and tints are all the same price $5 so its a good deal i will buy some more if i can. Wasn’t many left today and the deal only just started.
They are a good build quality the covers seems to be glass and not plastic like other brands. They have good heat sinking i am yet to take one apart to check it out i only bought one because not many left. If i can buy more i will tear it down.
The brand is Brilliant i looked them they work out of Melbourne and sell to other jobs like Bunnings and JohnRturks http://www.brilliantlighting.com.au/

G’day Aussies!
I just got an Xtar VC4 charger, and it doesn’t come with an Australian plug! Just a USB to power cable.
Sooooooo…questions!
1. Input for the VC4 says DC 5.0V 2.1A…does that mean I can use an iPhone/iPad power adaptor?
2. If not, can you guys recommend a good one for me? One that preferably won’t burn my house down when I go out hahaha….
Thanks guys!
G'Day lionheart_2281,
Yes, you can use your iPhone/iPad power adaptor.
Also if you need more ports, this one is Very Good:

The power supply from the Apple chargers in general is excellent and the current is very clean, with a multitude of safety features built-in. http://www.righto.com/2014/05/a-look-inside-ipad-chargers-pricey.html
