Hi, i need recommendation for decent quality power bank for mobile phone charging
It needs to be just shell, which can take 18650 cells? is there anything like that on the market? i dont like power banks filed with junk cells, i want to use my cells, thanks.
I have the TOMO V8-4. The same thing is also available (sturdier looking packaging) under the Soshine brand.
I picked it because:
It displays an approximation of the charge/discharge level of each cell.
It displays an approximation of the current draw on each port (each port has an indicator that seems to pulsate at a rate determined by the current)
It manages each cell independently, so cells don’t need to be well matched in terms of either capacity or charge level.
It has a 2A output & claims a 2A input. (I don’t have a charger doctor, yet, so I haven’t verified for myself).
It seems solidly made. The main downside is that the volume is pretty large. Between the space at the end for the display, and the space for the USB ports and charging guts, it could almost contain 8 18650 cells. That extra space is mostly air though, so it heavy.
I got this one. It’s pretty good, specially considering the price paid. I ran some tests and battery protection works well. The case is sturdy and small. I can charge 120% of my iphone 4S which is plenty for emergency purposes.
The only downside I found is that the ON button is not recessed enough. In a bag it can easily be pressed. I once found it to be empty when I needed it because of that…
