UPDATE: 1/12/15

Sorry for all the delays but it was beyond my control.

The remaining inventory of X60 lights have been upgraded from 5000 lumens to 6500 lumens while the price remains the same.

I wanted to bring my 5000 lumen X60 up to 6500 lumens while using Acebeams factory modified driver for testing. If all went well after testing, I could reopen this GB and we could clear out their remaining inventory.

To help spawn additional R & D, I also wanted to experiment with 20,000 lumen Bridgelux COB arrays with a few more drivers and lens configurations. After a lot of thought and great suggestions on my part, there was very little response or interest from Acebeam. So I scrapped that idea and moved on. IMO, it would have threatened X60M (MT-G2) sales and the investment they had already made in that light. Oh well… I’ll still look into building my own some day. I might also check into a Cree XHP70 triple conversion.

After offering to purchase a 6500 lumen driver from Acebeam (to upgrade my 5000 lumen X60 to 6500 lumens), I was quoted a price of $48 (with delivery) for one driver. I was then warned that my installing the driver would void the factory warranty on my X60 and was met with further resistance. So much for that…

So, Ive decided to buy another X60, test it and then post my findings. If all goes well, I should hopefully be reopening this GB within a week and PM the unanswered people who have been waiting very patiently for pricing and purchase information.

More to come soon…

Update: 12/09/14

Acebeam is considering upgrading the remaining stock of X60 flashlights to +6,000 lumens. They already put out more than 5,000 lumens, which is far more than can be used most of the time… but what the heck. More is always better, right?

I have asked for a review sample to be sent so that I can quantify the results and report back to the forum. I will compare the 5k lumen X60 with the 6K lumen X60 for lux, throw, amp drawn, confirm proper operation, verify that the overheat sensor on the driver does not cause the light to blink as it heats up (as has been seen in the Vinh X60 mods), consider increasing the turbo timer step-down to 4 or 5 minutes and evaluate the overall build quality of the driver. The modified light probably wont survive in my hands if there are any weaknesses, and Acebeam wants to know of any potential issues before any units are shipped out to our members. As soon as I get my sample, I’ll post my evaluation results here.

The best part? The price will remain the same!!

UPDATE: 10/15/14

After further negotiations (uh… begging, groveling and slap-stick humor), the nice folks at Acebeam were able to lower the total sale price $10! Those who received PM price quotes from me before this date can expect to spend $10 less in their purchase. If you’re interested, PM me and I can help you acquire an X60. Unfortunately, Acebeam can not provide a $10 credit to those who have already purchased. To those that now own one, I think we will all agree that our X60 lights were well worth the price, especially when compared to other high quality lights in the same price range.

Update: August 22, 2014. 4:35PM MDT.

My X60 just arrived.

Some hurried initial thoughts:

WOW!… uh, yeah. This one is friggen bright as hell! I immediately find myself in great anticipation of night time to give it a thorough work-out. The initial inspection looks very good so far. The carrying case is well padded and holds the light and its accessories very snugly to prevent any movement or damage during transport. The anodizing looks flawless and matches with the other parts of the light. I’ll get it out into the sunlight for some photos and a better look soon. I just popped in a fresh set of Panasonic protected NCR18650B and they fit with about 1mm to spare before full spring compression inside the carrier. The Carrier is fairly rigid and flex free while loading cells. In the hand with cells loaded, its not nearly as heavy as I had imagined it to be. Just as I had expected, I can EASILY change modes during single hand carry. The center of gravity is about 1” after the mode selector ring, so its perfectly balanced (with cells loaded). All the emitters are perfectly centered within their reflector holes and the reflective surfaces appear to be perfectly smooth, flawless and ultra high luster. All O-rings came properly lubed. The threads are perfectly square cut and provide proper positive engagement, and with no binding or uneven torque noted during assembly and dis-assembly during several trials. I “played dumb” and deliberately tried to cross thread the battery tube at the head and could easily detect when I had the alignment correct or not for proper engagement. While the light is on, a slight twist of the battery tube to loosen it kills power to the emitters for a positive lockout (just in case it gets turned on while bouncing around in your gear bag during Navy Seal combat assaults). While in lock-out and the light activated via the clicky button switch on the back, the tiny power indicator light on the back of the battery tube remains on, but that’s completely acceptable compared to melting everything inside your assault bag by 5 emitters blasting away without your knowing. :stuck_out_tongue: The selector ring tolerances are tight with absolutely no slop or play, not difficult to operate during one hand carry and have well defined detents to locate positive mode changes. I ratcheted the heck out of it and it didnt lose any of its close tolerances… so it should provide many good years of service for the Konan types. There were a few scares upon very close inspection of what appeared to be small scratches in the anodizing caused by the metal clasps from the carrying strap that the light was resting on while inside its carrying box. They came right off with a rub from a damp T-shirt, but I will mention this to Acebeam to ask them to insert each strap into a plastic bag for added insurance against the potential rough rides the delivery services might encounter. So far, all positive observations, but I have yet to give it a good thrashing. Its been sitting in turbo mode while face down in a pot of water for an initial burn-in as I write this. After the discharge, its off to be photographed and ran through an industrial shredder to test its strength. Alright, we’ll skip the shredder for now. It is definitely a thing of beautiful to behold.

More coming soon…

Good news update August 12, 5:47PM MDT.

I should receive my X60 in 2-3 days.

Interestingly, the company accepted my low-ball price proposal, but Im not allowed to divulge the price until I’m thoroughly satisfied with the product. So please dont PM me because I cant tell you the price just yet. All X60 sales related business will be conducted through the Flashpilot-X60 account once the sale is finalized and active. I will post an alert here with a link to the sales thread, but only after we are satisfied with the light.

It’s the mega-light we’ve all been waiting for… the Supbeam X60!

Please post: “I WANT ONE NOW!!” if you’re interested.

The purpose of this thread is to alert you to the upcoming GB and to discuss this light. Price quotes are not available at this time.

Click for the X60 web link

Supbeam has changed its name to Acebeam and must liquidate its remaining inventory of Supbeam branded flashlights.

After several hours of detailed conversations and emails with Acebeam (formerly Supbeam), we are nearing an agreement to release the remaining inventory of the incredible Supbeam X60 flashlight kits. This is the large 5 emitter XM-L2 light powered by 6 x 18650 cells and delivers a huge powerful flood/throw beam. The batteries do not need to be removed from the light in order to recharge them and it comes with its own charging system. The tail of the light has an LED indicator to let you know when the batteries are properly charged. The indicator also shows the state of charge to show if the cells are nearing depletion while the flashlight is in use.

The kit is very complete and will include the following:

  • 1*SUPBEAM X60 LED Flashlight
  • 1*Aluminum carrying case
  • 1*User manual
  • 1*Warranty card
  • 1*Shoulder lanyard
  • 1*AC charger 100-240V (EU or US plug for choosing)
  • 1*DC car charger adapter (including 1*USB charging cord)
  • 1*Plastic tail cap
  • 2*Replacement O-rings

Acebeam is serious about providing a great buying experience for its customers. To assure this, they are currently double-checking their entire remaining inventory of X60 kits to verify that they are up to fit and finish standards and operate properly as expected. Once the remaining kits have been sold, that’s it and there will be no more.

Once the GB has been approved and all the details have been sorted, I will open a new BLF account to announce the X60 sale, handle all your private messages and answer any questions specific to this GB. Pricing will be provided via PM to all interested BLF members under the new account once it becomes available. We are trying to get the delivered price down as low as it can possible be… suffice it to say that Acebeam will be losing a good chunk of money with each unit it sells. But sell these lights, they must!

I have requested a sample X60 kit to be express shipped to me for my inspection. Once I receive it, I will post my comments here.

(As always) In order to dispense with any suspicions of potential unscrupulous ulterior motives concerning any of my GB sales and reviews, I will never post affiliate links to attempt to profit from your personal interests. I have a real job thank you! This is just for fun. The X60 will be my compensation for conducting this GB… which I should receive shortly and post more here.

Edit: for a further explanation on the price quote, please read post 20.

The “interested members” list waiting to receive a PM with the sales price for the X60 has been moved to the sales thread in post 1.

Click here to take you there now.

i though X60M…
pass :zipper_mouth_face:

Of course I want one, but will need to know the price to see if I can possibly rationalize getting one.

ditto, same here.

Luckily, its not. The X60M (3 x MT-G2) is sold under the new Acebeam name (formerly Supbeam).

Although their outward appearance is nearly identical, the X60M is a great flood light with less throw beam but costs nearly twice as much as the anticipated GB price of the X60 (5 x XM-L2 , which has more throw beam for greater range and costs a huge :money_mouth_face: amount less). Read the several great X60 reviews others have posted and check it out.

If not for the company changing its name from Supbeam to Acebeam, this GB would never have been possible and the price drop would not have occurred.

But then, a true flashaholic would already own several of each.

Interested in the price!

Let us know how you like the light, it would be great if you could tell us if it’s easy to access the LED and sense resistors.

half the price of the x60m sounds good, im in for one.

“I want one now” depending on shipped price and no mismatch finishes.

very interesting, please PM me with the price
must be a lot of money :money_mouth_face:

I’m curious about the price as well.

As soon as I get the sample, we will be able to confirm the build quality, finish, performance and partial dis-assembly for mod potential. I noticed over in the X40 GB thread that Southland posted that his light just arrived with a nice matching finish, so thats a good sign. But then Id expect nothing less since this light was guaranteed to have been double checked prior to shipement.

I would like to know the price. I may be in.

I would like the price, too! Please pm it to me! Thanks!

How much is the fish.

I would like to know the price. I may be in thank you

PM price, I’m curious!

Interesting. I would like to know the price also. Please send PM - Thanks

Yes, price please.

In for price
