Last night I took out my Nitecore D4 to charge some batteries and I noticed that the backlight did not turn on. I picked it up and had a look to see if the backlight was turned off, but it wasn't so I put it back down. As the D4 touched the floor the backlight flashed on and off a couple times. I thought this was strange so I opened the D4 up and found this:
Screws are underneath the rubber feet.
The LED backlight wires are the red and black ones next to each other. Turns out the negative wire was touching over the positive contact and caused the backlight to short. After bending the wires apart and epoxying over them, I plugged the D4 back in and the backlight works again! At least this was an easy fix with no permanent damage, but I think Nitecore should of thought about this during the design stage of this charger. I hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
