Amazon Basics LSD Batteries Origins?

In AA NiMH LSD batteries Amazon seems to have three versions sold under their “Amazon Basics” label.

2000 mAh white wrapper “Made in Japan”
2500 mAh black wrapper with green leaves “Made in Japan”
2000 mAh black wrapper “China” origin.

The first two are listed as being made in Japan and are claimed to be precharged using solar energy. Sound like rebranded Sanyo/Panasonic Eneloops and Eneloop XX batteries. Can anyone verify this?

The last are made in China and are cheaper. Also reportedly they do not retain charge as well.

Experiences with any of these?

That’s something I’m also interested in!

Same here

Even if these are actually Eneloops, the capacity results of one “XX” 8 pack (in the 3 star rating category) gives me a little unease. Two of eight batteries rang in at less than 1700 mah capacity (assuming viable testing). My regular Eneloops (2000 mah) seem to achieve mah target at a better rate than these. Something is amiss. My two cents.

The latest batches of these AmazonBasics have grey wrappers, still made in Japan. Measured capacity and IR is about the same as the Eneloop Pro I bought last year.

Interesting note on the wrapper about standard charging being 240 mA for 16 hours. I don’t mind slow charging a battery, but 16 hours is a bit much. I typically charge them with 1A current.
