For anyone who thinks "moon" mode has no purpose...
For anyone who thinks “moon” mode has no purpose… I have one thing to say:
Natural hot springs far away from city lights, with a clothing-optional-after-dark policy, with one’s Significant Other, on a moonless night under a meteor shower.
Also helps if the quarter-lumen moon-mode light is waterproof.
Something tells me one of your zebralights took a dip, and wasn't the only thing that got wet
I disagree. If you’re soaking in a hot spring far from city lights watching a meteor shower with your significant other, why do you need to be running a flashlight? You will need more than moonlight mode to get there (unless you want to trip on rocks on the trail). But once you get there, running a flashlight in moonlight mode will just kill the mood.
Without lamps, there’d be no light.
Going to disagree with the disagreement... just a little bit of light once inside the hot spring (or in my experience hot tub) is nice to have... whole point of moonlight is that it's just barely enough to see by.
yep… been there.
AGREED
Light up that hot springs with my Supernight
What has been seen cannot be unseen
If it was a bubbling hot spring, I could think that a light with bad/ slow pwm would be cool.
I am in the .1-.5 lumen camp personally, though a .04 lumen firefly would be handy as a locator light.
If you can’t blind them with your brilliance, baffle them with your bullcrap.
The real currency in the world is not money, it’s trust.
I think you may have been play with the wrong thing? 0:)
RicFlair is on the air with blonde hair & pink underwear!! Whaoooooo!
Sounds like a very good use for moonlight mode
My purpose for moonlight tonight was slightly different though: Significant Other is fast asleep and I desperately needed that 1K lineair potmeter that was in a storage case on the shelf in the bedroom. She would have killed me if I woke her up

In my younger days, when I bought a new car, I pretty much only cared about how fast it was. Then, as time went by, I started focusing more on the safety and convenience features. Now I want to know how easy it is to maintain, and what my insurance rates will be.
Flashlights have been no different for me. I started out like most people here, only caring about lumens. But now I also care about tint, and having modes low enough not to blind me or others for some use cases like finding my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night in a strange place.
I try not to justify what features I look for, because it’s not based on ego. If someone else thinks every feature I look for on a car is useless, then fine, don’t buy it. If someone doesn’t think a low mode or efficient circuit is useful, then that’s great—more power to them. My problem is when people deal in absolutes. People will say “moonlight is useless” when they really mean “moonlight is useless to me” and that is a huge difference. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Haha, the light was mostly to get to the water and find a comfy spot therein without getting injured. Also occasionally to ward off others for a bit of privacy. I can’t say I was paying much attention to the flashlight after finding a good spot though…
Also, kind of important, not bright enough to see anything I would later want to unsee. ;P
lol djozz
When you say ‘anyone’, are u including octogenarians?
And werewolves?
Someone still has a “moon” worth looking at…
Ah yes “hot springs mode”, new to be included on every GB light of extremely high priority! Its neat, but you can count on your hand how many times a situation like that comes up in most people’s lives, and most of us have got 30-50+ lights to choose from, so it doesn’t have to be on every light. Plus going by feel can be fun too…
My first thought. If there can be random people passing through, do you want a bunch of lumens?

I agree with most of the sentiments in this thread but if clothing is optional then what is the point of moon mode? 0:)

Moon mode is optional, so doesn't need a point.
I think there was a specific mood that led to this thread being created and since one cannot transmit a mood or emotion over the internet then the person requesting pictures may have been onto something

Pics? You can get a pretty good idea what it looked like by turning your monitor off.
Actually, the Milky Way was nicely visible along with the shooting stars, but pretty much everything else was too dark to see.
Keep dreaming guys.

I think the point of moon mode here is that you dont see the point’s
Cheers David
Nothing to see here folks, move along...
Dreaming is not necessary
A very composite image
The other kind of mooning can be seen oneself with google images if you so desire

optional clothing… no pockets… I don’t want to imagine where I’d put the flashlight after using it
Mooooooo
Around her neck. Others have mentioned keeping a neck light as well.
