Bearcat "Police Security" Light at Pep Boys

Was at Pep Boys this last week and came across shelves of budget lights repackaged with various new (old) emitters. The lights were cheap enough, and after getting a good chuckle at the “Police security” reference, I played with a few.

As seen in the photo, we have a zoomy (bottom right) that resembles the SAIK SA-9. A few lights were using XP-Gs, XP-Es, and XM-Ls, some of them with mighty warm color temps. There were some neat 2xAA lights, but the one with the nicest beam (and finish) was this 3xAA fattie…

Referenced in this old thread…

Unlike the original, the beam is clean and strong without any artifacts, and the lumen estimate is not overly optimistic at just 130 lumens. With some Eneloops in there, you’d have a promising little performer, not to mention a fine host.

Cool, a local 3xAA host. What was the price?

I think it was something like $8 to $12.

i think my local pep boys had it for $30 last month, but i think these are on clearance now.

Seen at walmart in Canada

I saw one @Pepboys tonight, $14.99. Looked like the regular price in the regular flashlight section. Chipped bezel, probably dropped. Couldn't try it, batteries dead. I hate when people turn flashlights on in the store and leave. What's that about?
