The Sofirn SF14 is scheduled to be in a lightening deal starting at 9:04 AM EDT, Sep 7th on Amazon.com. Currently, the price is set at $14.99. See SF14 details in the table below:

97.6 20 39 OP No mode memory
Always starts in Low
No noticeable PWM

Some owners report that the SF14 goes spastic when NI-MH batteries are used. See this thread for more info. I haven't seen this problem and I have been running an Eneloop in my SF14 for weeks. Sofirn reports, however, that the anomaly is fixed in SF14 V2.

EDIT: The deal price is $12.50 which is somewhat disappointing. A SF14 can be purchased from Ali for $11.01 but you have to wait  an estimated 19 - 39 days for delivery.

Only had two SF14’s one of them did have a fit on NiMh. low and med would work fine but it would have a flashlight seizure as soon as it was put on high mode. Figured it was just mine. Didn’t know it happened to others. The other one worked fine though. Gave the fit thrower away and sold the other one.

Might grab another one though. Thanks a bunch ActiveAl

I am happy to own a SF14 because it performs well using a 14500 - with a nice mode spread, and impressive High mode output. It also has a decent tint with no noticeable PWM.  I really have no need to run a Ni-MH in my SF14. There are other AA/14500  flashlight in my collection that are better suited to use with Ni-MH batteries anyway such as the UltraTac A1 and the Jaxman E3 (currently en route).

Oh I agree. I love my little A1 with a NiMh. Besides the Zebralight, it’s one of my favorite AA’s to carry around. Don’t have the Jaxman, I will take a look at it though.

I just saw a flashlight and its price less than 1 dollar! https://www.amazon.com/Handheld-Flashlights%EF%BC%8CLookatool-XPE-R3-Lumens-Penlight/dp/B07B9FK6FC/.
How it possible to make a flashlight in this $0.61 price?
I had added a few flashlights in the black Friday which was under $10 bucks https://tacticalflashlightguide.com/black-friday-cyber-monday-flashlight... but never has seen this price flashlight

When I'm spending mony foolishly, I like to do it wi$ely...

I have all the flashlights I need, but not as many as I want...

Maybe because the shipping is 6 times the price of the product?

A  red flag for me is that the seller is probably lying about the lumen output of this flashlight. According to Cree, the max lumen output of the XPE famliy is 307 lumens. If you check the XPE-R3 datasheet you will note that the max luminous flux given for this LED is no more that about about 120 lumens.  Based on this misrepresentation, the product is probably crap.

I am sure it’s a scam. And the funny thing is that I have seen a few similar price flashlight. All price less than $1.

Looks similar to the many poor quality Hugsby style clones ( original Hugsby are great for beaters and gifting)

Sofirn SP31 v2 and SP32a v2 kits have coupons and/or discount codes for 25-30% off. The bare lights are discounted too, but not as much. Check the special offers section of the listings.

I’d say your own post violates that guidance.

Huh? Did I miss something?

I ordered a silver ‘32v2 (from Sofirn/AX) and am still waiting for it.

Amazon only carries the black ones, eh?

Anyway, please continue the petty bickering. I find it most intriguing.

Been meaning to grab one. I like the old one a lot, just hated the ramping, used it once and changed it back to modes. I’m interested to try the ramping on the new one.

32v2s, TK18s, pretty much everything but my Q8s, if it’s got ramping, I use stepped mode instead. Quicker.

My Q8s, it’s either something lowlowlow just to see in the dark, or 2click to turbo anyway. If I need anything less than its turbo, I might as well be carrying a light that’s smaller’n/lighter’n a brick.

Fascinating, isn’t it?

We all seem to have our “lighting habits” pretty much all mapped out, while most of the planet just grabs a 2buk plastic-tube D-cell hotwire flashlight and that’s pretty much it.

I had to decide which light to give the wife the other night to walk the grand daughter home . None are single mode on/off easy-pezzy. I’ve got to work on that. I’m thinking the Q8 would cover all the bases as long as she doesn’t get caught in multipress jungle.

I got the wife and kids a few single mode sk68’s for just that type of thing. They aren’t impressive lights at all but they give the muggles a way to make it home in the dark. Smile

S2+ with wider-angle TIR and nice 1-mode driver, say 1.5A or so.

Can’t beat that for close range lighting except for maybe an aspheric.

Thanks Lightbringer, Could you link me up with a 1 mode driver ? I’ve got a couple cheap S2+s I could use for that.

I got a bunch of those. Simple, stoopit, works. Nothing to go worng.

No µC to go mental on you, just parallelled 7135s and a reverse-protection diode. Great for pushing XP-E2s in old C8s (type I, with pill and 17mm hole), pretty much anything that takes 17mm drivers.

Get 20mm ones for SK98s if you go the aspheric route.

Oh, and order some springs if you don’t want to be stuck with button-tops. FT got ‘em in a bunch of different lengths/sizes, just pick one that suits ya. No need to bypass anything or go with huge springs with only 1.4A.

That looks like a no brainer. Not too hot, on/off, hand to newb FL. Thanks.
PS: which angle TIR do you use mostly ? I’m thinking 45 degree is best for flood?
