What driver do I have?

Hi guys,
I’ve got a few of these drivers, what Amps will this pull with some IMR batteries? Is it direct drive in high?
!!

Looks like the East-092 series driver with “direct drive” on high and PWM to control the brightness in other modes.

The current will depend on the quality of the MOSFET and the output voltage and the signal of the MCU; some have been getting the good ones and other have not. The only way to tell will be to test one out.

Cheers, I’ll just have to tell by eye, I don’t currently have a working DMM! I’m still learning drivers, I take it the code on the MOSFET doesn’t tell you the current draw of the driver?

I think people with the same MOSFET have gotten different currents because the voltage signal that the MCU is outputing is different.

ohaya has done some poking around as to why this is occuring: Maybe explanation for not-so-great current output on some EAST-092 drivers?

Thread with the same driver: East-092 returns, via Gearbest

Ok I think I get it, the ‘brain’ (Mcu) basically isn’t telling the MOSFET to work a its full capacity?

Yup, I think that might be happening with the low current versions (2-3A) of the driver. There has been some debate about this whether this was really the case, but I haven’t tested one out for myself.

Just stumbled upon this thread…

Found this driver in a sept/nov 2014 fandyfire HD2010 it is less than satisfactory. Even on “high” the pwm is just awful and what with the flashies the driver just had to go.

Guess I got a bad one :frowning:
