Nice. I wonder what process they use.

Agreed, if they are coming from Cree dedomed i would be very interested in someone comparing it to a gasoline dedome, to see if the solvent is reducing output or damaging the LED phosphor somehow.

Interersting. Maybe they are getting these XM-L2s from Cree without the domes ? ( as Bort mentioned the phosphor would be clean and un-damaged by gasoline.

From my information Olight did some research into the dedome process and do it themselves.

A factory dedome was bound to happen sooner or later. Too bad I couldnt get Acebeam to attempt it a few months ago.

Wow. Strange world this is where a popular manufacturer is designing a light out of spec by using a dedomed LED. Damit Alex. I really want a Jacob now.. Love

My gratitude to those who are willing and able to help others (in whatever way you can)! Being human is more than just existing for yourself. Smile

That’s almost exactly what I was thinking when I saw AlexGT’s pic in post #11. Looks kind of like an A60?

I’ve only got a handful of reviews under my belt but I have a new blog im trying to get more stuff posted on and on top of that, this particular format (1×18650 thrower) is my personal favorite, I have many conpariable lights in the class to put it up against. Please consider me for a review.

That took long for the manufacturers to pick up!

BTW, the various dedoming techniques are not 'BLF-originals', but Tom's dedoming thread did very thoroughly sort out for the first time which techniques are good and no good.

Wonder if they are using the protective coating over the dedomed emitter, or left it bare

dedomed XM-L2
5A driver
and a 3 18650 battery carrier
and fit it together.

That would be nice Beer

A doomed LED should die quicker than one that is not doomed…

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself… Can’t help about life span with dome or no dome though.
