In the Midwest states at the moment but call northern Nevada home.
I’m into camping, hiking, 4x4, hunting, fishing……
Stumbled across this forum when I was researching Acebeam and ThruNite.

Welcome to the forum velvetant. You sound a bit home sick (been there myself). We have folks from all over the world here. So there is bound to be someone not far from where you were from here too.
Cool screen name. We have a creature down here sometimes called the Velvet Ant, but more often referred to as the Cow Killer. Purported to have a sting so painful it can kill a cow. Actually, it's a wingless wasp. Beautiful creature that really stands out. They are not aggressive and will actually avoid humans, but I cut a wide berth for them none the less.

Yep, that’s me.
Some friends and I are out hiking some 15 years ago when we came across one, they didn’t know what it was but i did.
The name got stuck on me and to be honest I love the name.
