Batteries from FT arrived damaged.

After 69 days in transit my KK 26650 cells arrived, at only 5 bucks per cell it was an awesome deal and I was prepared to wait this long.

Opened up the packaging and was surprised at the relatively low amount of bubble wrap used. I then tested both with a DMM.

One of them read 3.64v, the other read 0.30v… wait what! This cannot be right. I double checked and it still gave the same reading.
I was hoping that my DMM was playing up but then I placed it in the opus charger and it read 0.29v :_(

Upon further inspection I could see a slight imperfection in the wrapping but even that was extremely slight.

! !

I’ve effectively paid 10 bucks for a single KK cell and had to wait over 2 and a half months to get it. Would fasttech fix this issue?
I don’t have any experience with their customer service even though I’ve ordered from them many times. What should I do?

Show them the pictures. They’ll fix it.

Are these protection cells? (could have the protection circuit tripped?)

Open a ticket w/ fasttech, show them your findings, they will make it right

Is that cell charging ?

I think you should contact FT customer care
tell them about this and send photos of damage and voltage indication

No its not a protected battery, at least according to the listing.

King Kong ICR26650 3.7V 4000mAh Li-ion Rechargeable Batteries (2-Pack)

No it’s not charging or doing anything. I only left it in the charger long enough for it to take a reading, I took it out straight away.

I’ll open a ticket with FT and I’ll send them these photo’s. I’ll report back here with my findings.

The thing that I’m really annoyed about is that I waited forever for these to get here and when they finally do they arrive dis-functional,
it’s all well and good if they send me a replacement or refund my money but I’ll still have to wait another 2-3 months to get a replacement.
I guess I will just have to suck it up, they’re only batteries, lol.

first report of a dud kingkong i have read.
that little ding is not the cause though.
if it did short the cell there would be a LOT more damage!

Probably shorted inside… Or it’s fake and there’s a big bolt in there connected to a watch battery

RMM got my batteries to me in 3 days just to compare… I live in CA though US- oh nm your down under

Thanks to Chloe I found this thread and I also just received 2 KK’s under safe voltage from Fasttech in well over 60 days, one .7V :frowning: This may be a trend for their KKs…did the other KK you received hold voltage and perform well?

I had received a 3400 18650 unprotected from FT that measured about .5V or less. They wanted me to mail it back to get a new one. This after taking pictures of me measuring it and everything.

Since that’s hardly worth it I just kept it and moved on. Hope they take better care of you.

That’s the advantage of buying locally…

P.S. Now and then I also have a problem with stuff that I order from FT and they always come through with it, they either send me replacement or give me a gift certificate that I use in my next purchase.
P.S.S. You are actually lucky because you still have opportunity to order batteries from FT ( and they have best offer of Li-ion cells I would say ), for customers in Europe none of the offered shipping channels works so I can not order batteries from them at all, if I could I would be happy even if the need 2 months to arrive…
