My father and I ordered a few very cheap lights off the net recently. Intended to be used with 14500 cells that still haven’t arrived 2 months later from another source but that’s another story. After playing around with one of the lights with a eneloop cell the cheapness of the circuitry is becoming apparent. Even sitting for awhile the light will turn on in the next mode in the sequence. No memory or default. After thinking it through which I really should have done before hand but none the less I am genuinely very concerned about him using these lights with a lithium cell. I’ve read horror stories about with using lithium cells in quality lights just having 2 bad cells and what could go wrong and the damage they can do to the human body. I want to buy him a replacement single cell light he can safely use with a 14500 lithium cell. I don’t have a specific price but for now lets say around $50cdn.
I would start with the Jetbeam RRT-0. It runs on CR123/16340 and comes with a AA extender that lets you use 14500 cells. No memory and a nice magnetic switch. Sunwayman has a similar model. The price should be rihht around US$50 for either.
