[16-NOV-2014] New "Non-LED Lights" forum category

Hi everyone,

Sorry it took me so long, but I finally got around to creating a new forum category for all lights that don’t use an LED:

http://budgetlightforum.com/forum/nonled/general

For now, I have it as a sort of catch-all category for non-LED stuff. But if it turns out to be very popular, then I’ll create sub-categories for lanterns, HID, etc., as needed.

Thanks, and have fun!

EDIT:

There is probably also a considerable amount of interest in LED lanterns. For that reason, I just added another new sub-category in the Other LED Lights category:

Thanks though to me Lanterns include everything from oil lamps to propane, kerosene and white gas pressure mantle lanterns and LED lanterns and portable lamps. They are the oldest and widest range of forms artificial lighting there is.

Fine by me. I lay claim to the RealFire® brand name for oil lamps.

Would that be a forty four gallon drum of oil on fire?

Nope, when that happens they bring in the You’reFired brand.

Oh Great! Another sub forum to catch my attention for browsing and in the end my MONEY... There's a method to this Madness...

Time for someone to introduce the OnFire brand

awesome  now i can post Lantern & lamp stuff here.

Looking forward to more lantern stuff :-)

Thanks SB for creating the new category!

I would drop the ‘non-LED’ part from this section. Most of my lanterns and lantern conversions, etc. all use LED’s.

Any reason to specify only ‘non-LED’?

Great, thanks for the category.

Looking forward to seeing what other ‘light madness’ I can involve myself in…!

Good question. This “non-LED” category is sort of a general category for anything that doesn’t use an LED, be it a lamp with a flame or an HID searchlight. There will probably be additional sub-categories in the future as needed. But there is probably also a considerable amount of interest in LED lanterns. For that reason, I just added another new sub-category in the Other LED Lights category:

Enjoy!

Can we start a “Show your HID flashlight/spotlight” thread?

Im in

Great balls of fire

Just wait until you have gas powered LED lanterns!

Oh you mean ones powered by a fuel cell. Quite likely coming eventually and providing exceptional run time per BTU of whatever fuel the fuel cell can take. Methane powered LED lights?

Sounds good to me, go for it.

Of course!

I’ve made methane lights before, but they weren’t LED. The technique involves the use of Taco Bell bean burritos and a match…
