Zoomie Ultrafire CREE XM-L T6 2000lm 5 Modes Zoomable LED Flashlight

Has anyone bought this flashlight? Would it make a nice 26650 zoomie host? I can’t find a model number for it to read a review.

Haven’t seen that one before, but it looks like a longer version of the zoomie host I use: http://www.fasttech.com/products/1601/10002775/1206500-cree-xml-t6-xm-l-t6-5-mode-zooming-led-flashlight, which has the widest zoom angle I’ve seen so far (81,5 degrees) and a solid pill (aluminum). It’s the zoomie of my choice, but I’ve only run XM-L2s in it at about 4.4 amps.

The price is right and it may just make a nice host to mod.

Since it takes two 26650, it should feel good in the hand like a 2 cell Mag-Lite. I hope someone makes a 32650 multi-cell host. That should have the feel of a D cell Mag-Lite.

It’s funny seeing cops today with these tiny flashlights with crenelated bezels when I grew up seeing them with multi D cells that they would use to give someone the Chicago Miranda Warning.

I see they also have a similar model without knurling or crenelated head. Also it’s lumens are right up there with cop math.

I wonder what a MT-G2 would be like in there. It looks like the part that holds the emitter is meatier than the crenelated one. What do you guys think? Is it begging to get modded?

…and it has a larger lens!

I like it here on the Budget Light Forum. People here are like me and have to live on a budget unlike the folks over at the Expensive Light Forum CPF :D. I’ll have to wait until after the new year to be able to buy anything more. I have plans on building a 365nm UV in a Convoy M2 host and buying this to mod. It sure looks meaty. Lots of aluminum.

Here is a hopeful contender but the lens seems to be somewhat flat-ish.

This one looks oddly familiar. 1200 lumen is more believable than 3600 lumen. If they said 800 lumen I would believe them.

That one is 18650 only

I like the one Linked in Post #5.

Look at the pictures at Meritline. It has the plastic 18650 sleeve inside the tube. When the time comes (after Christmas is over) I’ll order one from Banggood since they have the best price. For 2 dollars more, I can get it from their USA warehouse and wont have to wait for the slow boat from China.

I went window shopping at Mountain Electronics and got a wishlist started. MT-G2 on a Noctigon, 3 amp driver board and 5200mah 26650 batteries,

I stuck a MT-G2 in one of my zoomies (linked above) and turned it on… and it came out a lot faster than it went in! The MT-G2 produces a horrible hexagon shapped beehive beem when focused in a zoomie. I couldn’t stand it.

You're not the first one who found this out :-)

BTW, I like the Bangood one in post#5 best too as a host, wider lens than the light of the OP, so more throw, and it looks better. One thing that makes or kills this light: I assume that you can screw off a bit of the battery tube to make it 1x18650. That is important because it makes the light smaller, good 1x18650 drivers are very easy to find for any current, and 2x18650 cells are completely unneccessary for driving a single emitter.

Yeah, I did read something about it here before I did it but had to try myself… I regret it :Sp Still having nightmares.

But is a square image with dots, lines and corners cut off any better?

Much better I think. The dots in the square are not so noticeable so it appears rather solid. The cut of corners are a minor distraction. The MT-G2 beehive was however very visible, no matter what I pointed it at. I would have probably preferred the hex shape over the square, had the beam only been more solid.

Wonder if this would work for 26650 or 32650’s. Manafont used to sell it, not sure about this place, only found it via a Google. Very Maglite looking though:
