Wow those hosts look good! The prices are excellent as well! Any idea on performance? Modes? These look fantastic!

Interested in the 1D.

How many modes? Runtime?
Tint?

1D modes - 0.2%-2%-20%-100%

Cool white, it's the stock led with the dome off. I have no clue as to the bin or actual tint number.

I have no idea of runtime. With a 26650 it should run quite a long time, even on high. It's not pushing any more than 3 amps. In fact it's less than that, but I just don't have a quality meter to measure correctly. It is less than 3 amps on high. It's funny, when people see a 5 amp driver, they always think it's going to put out 5 amps. I do.... but it won't do that much. Only under "ideal conditions". That is why I prefer regulated rather than non-regulated.

nvm.

Output on the 2D? Emitter testing here. Other than that, I haven't got a clue.

Output on the 1D? 44K lux at one meter. That's not all that great I don't think. If it had been a lot brighter, it would have been a lot more money. Still a lot brighter than stock and a much tighter beam. It's a tight beam for throwing, but not really useful as far as I am concerned. I just did it in case someone else wanted one.

Nice looking builds OL.

FWIW the LD-1 is regulated. In this case it’s a matter of Vin being too low compared to Vout, you are in state known as “dropout.” Vf is too high with the XP-G2 here.

Well, I’m not at all impressed with L2 or G2 or anything 2 in the cree leds. Takes 1-1/4 Li-ion or 4 NiMH to power the stupid things and we don’t have anything that fits that or cells/drivers to work. It’s a pain in the ass and that’s one of the reasons I gave up on building. I like single cell lights a lot, (shorty lights), but XM-L and XP-G are not what everyone wants any more and XM=L2/XP-G2 just don’t work with single cells, so I just went with MT-G2 and gave up. This is the last XP-G2 I will be messing with, but you know what? I tried a Qlite in the same setup and it gave me the 3020mA, so what’s that say about the cell/driver/led??. The LD-1 drivers will only do 2.7 amps.

OL, I agree that driving these new (not new anymore) emitters is a problem for us. That’s part of why myself and others have been wanting to create a good buck driver.

It came up in one of led4power’s threads that the dropout for the LD-1 was not as good as the dropout for a regular 7135 based driver such as the Qlite (I asked about it specifically).

FWIW My new QX7136 based driver may have a superior dropout to the Qlite, but not by much. I’m not particularly confident about the new driver. The only good omen is that it’s basically a 1-channel Supfire M6 driver and I think the M6 driver has OK performance. I have not hotrodded one myself though.

Well, it would seem that between the new generation of leds and the copper mcpcbs, which transfer heat so much more efficiently, we are pretty much left out. Now that the Vf is higher and the led stays cooler, it's actually a bad thing. Time to go back to cheap stars and thin/hollow aluminum heat sinks, so the leds get really hot, so the Vf will drop? Sounds like going backwards might be going forwards.

I wonder about the same thing sometimes. We know Vf and efficiency both drop as emitter temp increases. But it’s possible if we graph these things together we might learn something interesting. I’m not volunteering to collect all that data though! Tough job.

Still for Sale.

Still up for sale, both lights.

Prices lowered. See the OP

Someone should pick these lights up at this low price.

Sale is on hold, or closed out, not available, or something, for a while anyhow.

The sale has changed.

I have modified the 1D Lux Pro again. It now has an XM-L T6 cool white in it. It now puts out 4.5 amps to the XM-L. I went to a first gen led, because of all the issues with second gen leds being higher voltage and as you can see, the results are positive. I think I will be going back to first gen leds from now on. Much easier to run them higher amps without having to go buy mega batteries. This was with an 18650, so it should do even better with a high drain 26650.

Anyhow, now there are THREE lights for sale!

The 1D Lux Pro, I’ll take it. Paypal sent. PM sent.

Ah want that maglite so bad. I’m tapped out though… :frowning:

GLWS!

Thank you, I will let you know when it ships out.

Still 2 lights left.
