INTRODUCTION:

This is my first contact with Rayus brand. It is a factory that wants to take a place in the Premium segment flashlights, reliable quality and professional quality. Employs, staff, engineers and commercial, have experience in this sector, some have participated in successful projects in brands like Rofis, Fenix and others known for us.
The C01 model has 2 optional LEDS, XP-G2 (R5) and nichia 219 B11. I appreciate very much the opportunity to test this unit, the flashlight was provided by mediation of UPZ and his Blog by all known reviewsdelinternas .For the creation of the graphic of this review, I could use the data of “integrating sphere” of UPZ.

At this point I look at the smallest details each time you get a new flashlight, I have not opened the box and feelings are already good, I have seen a wide variety of packages for different flahlights, this is simple cardboard, but there’s also quality, as in glitter detail, quality of that cardboard as is glued …. everything portends good things …

Inside, nothing makes me change the first impression that took me to see the box: a small flashlight, a ring (really, it’s a flashlight destined at keychain), an oring and an alkaline battery. The battery is a brand that offers no doubts, are not intended to save a few cents. A user manual simple and neat full content.

It’s a small keychain flashlight, which is supposed to always be with us, If we need to lend it, we would not need to give much explanation about its operation. You may not impress anyone in terms of power, but I predict, a long and happy life on a keychain with a daily rough treatment. Very comfortable in the on with means even with gloves work, knurling is located in the right place and has the aggressiveness needed for this.

Group pics:

First, an image in the company of all my flashlights 1xAAA of one mode, among them, the Rayus is showing me more constructive quality, which seems more solid and rugged (no doubt). Alongside the Maglite, the Nextorch and they have sought the power that I consider appropriate for this type of flashlights, balancing utility for regular use at home, close work on a computer, …. outdoors, in the dark has shown me, that it is better defended than I expected at distances of 6-10 meters.

Nothing to envy to those that is around you. A common problem with these design models aaa is that unless they incorporate a clip, the tendency to roll is very present. In flashlights that are on the Keychain 100% of the time, will not be a problem, but for many who use carabiner and we continually draw from there, it would be preferable to design an element that will prevent or at least difficult be incorporated, it is true that sometimes can take to increase in some area diameter in a couple of millimeters and in this format people look at much the details of the size and weight of the flashlight. For me it would be an improvement.

THE FLASHLIGHT

The flashlight is simple and lightweight, moves in the sizes and weights of its competitors, only 12 gr. and with generous thick walls. The knurling is aggressive and is accurate enough to enable us in any circumstances or weather conditions, presence of gloves …, the operation of the placement C01. The, also well designed tail offers classic design that allows positioning of the flashlight as a candle at a time so you can mount the right ring for keychain without disturbing the above position.

LED / BEAM

We have 2 options, I’m testing an XP-G2 (R5) located inside a small, not very deep rough reflector (obvious to say that most perfectly centered) that provides a nice beam with a very soft and fuzzy transition between spot and peripheral illumination area, we can see it clearly in Gif end of this section, is a flashlight 1xAAA with clear intention of flood.

We may think that 35 lumens are not too many (we’re freaks flashlights), but in total darkness ….

Comparing Beams. More clearly flooder and uniform Rayus of C01. Tint is cool to my view slightly neutral. Here are notes from whom compare the trend seems even slightly blue, but it is not true, there is no trace of rare shades is the cleanest dye 3 with which I compare. The SolarStorm I do not know the real data, is more potent than Rayus, but light years ahead in terms of regulation (and batteries obviously drunk). They can not compete with the Rayus for quality threads, anodized materials ….C01 is on the Top.

Now let’s see what really matters, how it will look in everyday use ?, here a gif comparing some of these flashlights let’s see how the “soft beam” that Rayus provides is that offered a more balanced and comfortable feeling indoors , I really want to see an image of the other C01 model that fits the Nichia 219, I think it will be a great combination with this type of projection. Visually comfortable and relaxed for a somewhat prolonged use.

INTERFACE / RUNTIME

The Rayus C01 has only one mode, 35 (officially) lumens for this XP-G2 (R5) version. Simple to opérate, twisty type.
Say that as expected in a brand that wants to be the premium segment, the specifications provided NEMA compliant ANSI FL1, and tests are done on an external and independent laboratory (as it should be).
As I said at the beginning, I have data for making the graphic provided by UPZ (Colleague on forolinternas) obtained with the sphere much good information provides us all: sisi1: (one work so much data pleasure even for a graphical simple as this.
The regulation is excellent and obtain 3 and a half hours a completely flat line of around 30 lumens, great for these levels. Let us remember other models in this segment as the new version of the legendary Maglite Solitaire, the Nextorch K1, or the old Fenix E05. All exceeded in efficiency by this C01.

CONCLUSIONS

GREAT:

- High-end Quality anodized, like all the materials used. Tail appropriate (perfect tailstand) and functional design.

- Beam well balanced, a Little flood, that makes full use to these 35 lumens for indoor and close work.

- Great Regulation (3.5 hours)

- Possibility to choose two LEDs with very different tints (XP-G2 and nichia 219)

  • I appreciate that the brand is committed to NEMA ANSI FL1, and they are controlled by an independent laboratory.

It is a very functional, simple in operation and rugged flashlight, appearance is sober and still has achieved a certain degree of elegance in the lines. If you could change something … maybe get some element in the design that would make it difficult to roll flashlight if you are outside of keychain without ring. But otherwise, the flashlight within range fulfills all expectations.
Recall that this is sample unit and a cosmetic change is possible in the future.
It will be interesting to see some of this quality model to compete in the segment aaa 3 mode, where competition is much greater.

Great review sir, an absolute delight to read. It is very good to see new brands committed to such high standards, I will most definitely look into the brand. Thanks for the great read!!!

Nice review, Trevilux, is a pleasure to read it. Nice pics and you have a very good collection of AAA
