Dorcy to release new LED lantern with LED ENGIN emitters

I can not divulge ANY more info on the matter than just this but Dorcy is currently doing a test run on 2000 pieces of a new LED lantern using LED ENGIN emitters. From what I understand they're still debating remote phosphor or not (the test unit's will use white LED's, if they went RP that would change to blue LED's). The plan is they will sell the rights to Sears to sell them under the Craftsman name.

Note I have no other info at all so asking me for more info won't help anything.

RP is what the original Philips L-Prize used. Works great, but I wonder how cost-effective it is.

(The supply of L-prize 60W’s sure dried up in a hurry! I bought only three, thinking I’ll just try them out. There weren’t any left when I decided I really liked ‘em.)

I like Dorcy’s other stuff, so I’ll keep an eye out for this product.

I may have more news on this on the next few weeks, again nothing is set in stone (and Im not just keeping quiet, I literally know nothing else) but my contact at xxxxxxx has asked if I’d be able to test a product soon.

In most situation’s I’m just another regular guy here on BLF but every now and then I do post as if I were a professional / business and as such there are some name’s / detail’s I cant share.

having said that it’s not any sort of NDA preventing me from sharing more, I literally have no other info to tell (or not tell). I dont know what exact emitter, I dont know battery details, I dont know target price or any spec’s.

If/when I’m sent the product it’s for publicity and for me to review / show off here and that’s what I’ll do, till then you know as much as I (other than the name of my contact). The xxxxxx’s are because I dont really want my contact’s name / personal info getting out, that’s not really keeping anything from you guy’s about the product, that’s just good business practice.

Just because we here are BLF are big in the open source stuff doesnt mean every retailer / manufacturer has to be, or should even be expected to be open about product development, secrecy is what makes companies push their product’s to the next level…
