Eneloops

DELETED

I believe the light is supposed to turn off when fully charged. Even out the package, new Eneloops can take a several hours to reach full charge.

Yes, those terminal voltages are within specs for niMh cells.

Out of curiosity, are the AAs marked as made in China or Japan?

Not all batteries or chargers are created equal. Termination for a smart charger is a fairly refined process, especially for NiMh. NiCad is easier and Li-on is WAY easier. Once in awhile you get a battery that does not cooperate well with a charger. The cheaper the charger, cheaper the cell, older the cell, more abused the cell and the process becomes even more dicey. AAA are particularly susceptible to this in my experience.

People here also seem to think NiMh isn’t ‘done’ until it reaches 1.5v. No NiMh cell will ‘keep’ 1.5v for long, not even LSD. They readily drop down to ~1.4’ish after they cool and settle down. That is normal. If they get over 1.45v and are warm……they are done. If they get HOT, they are over done. Leaving them on charge after 1.45v is reached will accomplish nothing, with the possibility of long term degradation. Trickle charge has to be pretty low for leaving it on charger long term

For your cell that won’t finish you can see whether it’s THAT cell. or THAT charge channel. Then you decide whether you want to just deal with that by watching it manually or try to hassle a swap out of an eBay dealer. I don’t buy anything like this from eBay that I’m not prepared to eat.

I have bought off eBay for years. That included budget lights, batteries, Anti virus applications, and many other items. I have only had a couple of times when I had problems with the purchase. Both times I got my money back. Often the prices are better, sometimes much better, than can be found elsewhere. To each his own, but I have not needed to eat anything from eBay. I always pay with PayPal.

That is OK, but eBay has a guarantee and PayPal will get you a refund if you get other than stated.
I am for better prices, and so FT and other vendors get some of my business. For example no one on eBay meets the price of the Tank 007 that is one of my favorites. http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10002363/1173305-tank007-e09-cree-xp-e-r3-120-lumen-3-mode-memory-e

I would also agree that lithium ion batteries are better bought elsewhere. Most of my 18650 batteries I have bought from FT, and do not buy the Ultrafire stuff off eBay. But there are other batteries and some lights and anti virus that are much better buy on eBay.

I don’t have any stock in eBay, but I do think advice to never buy on eBay is not good advice. I base that on at least 15 years of buying there. I bought some Fenix combinations of LD01 and E01 lights. The LD01 is my favorite AAA light. I got what I ordered and at a price that I did not find better elsewhere. I bought two, and one is new (being hoarded) and I sometimes carry the other. I normally carry the tank loaded with an alky so if I want to give it away on the spot I can. I’m too CHEAP to give the LD01 except to close kin or friends who would appreciate it.

Maybe OT and you probably know about it, but here is a great comparison of AAA key chains.

I hope 2015 holds many blessings and good fortune for you and yours.

Best Regards,
Jerry
