Packages re-routed via Netherlands

Is it a norm for us to see Chinese vendors shipping their products via Netherlands these days? Does this have something to do with lithium batteries?

I ordered a few things in January. None of them were batteries. Bought a DEFOE 5 tactical backpack and a car DVR camera both from Aliexpress. I also picked up an Opus charger from Gearbest which I regretted as soon as I received the paypal charge. 16 days later, I see that they just rerouted through Netherlands.

I had this also on a useless box I ordered from DX? It’s weird.
The tracking never worked too, but it arrived faster than expected(maybe because my country is next to netherland)

Yes, it's because of batteries and supposedly, they get through, but sellers then just switch to that service instead of having to use a bunch of different ones. GB is bad for that. They switched and now it takes over a month to get anything from them. I try not to order overseas if at all possible any more.

Thanks guys. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one getting picked on by the shipping fairies. I think I'm going to stop buying for a while. PayPal charged me 1.275 on the conversion. The Opus charger cost me over CAD50!
