Harnds Viper in other colors?

I think I’m going to get a Harnds Viper for my weekend carry knife. It’s got the size and style that appeals to me. Does it come in colors other than brown?

Is there anything very similar I should consider?

You can dye them.

+1 The dye color is still holding strong since I colored it more than a year ago, no fading at all!

All I can find is brown :frowning: I doubt that will dye well

That is what the person I linked dyed was brown. You just have to boil them with the dye apparently.

There is a black version called the CK6016 Mamba
Black scales and black blade, only seen half serrated ones though.

The dyed ones look good. Ever thought of re-scaling one? You get a wide choice of materials and colours then.

The Viper is one of my favourite larger knives, smooth looking and smooth action.

Fasttech has a model CK6016 but calls it the “Knight”

Is this the same as the Mamba?

Yes. If you look closely at one of the pics you can see the blade marked “Black Mamba”.

Knight and viper are totally differents knives, size, shape, steel… both from harnds but differents.

I bought the Mamba. They’ll probably come out with different colors tomorrow

FastTech’s encyclopaedic knowledge of knives is shown yet again not to exist.
I’ve got “Error Reports” lodged with them going back as far as 18th December 2013, anybody would think they don’t care about the errors.

I’m just very pleased with the amount of SanRenMu’s that they stock, 252, and that’s without the pocket tools.

My Harnds Mamba showed up from Fasttech…20 days from order to mailbox, can’t complain. As 8Steve88 said it is essentially a Viper, just black plus the serrated blade.

That first moment you hold a new knife makes a strong impression, and mine was not favorable. It just did not feel ‘right’ for a couple reasons. The main reason is the sharpness of the scales. Tomorrow I will try to sand those down, the edges and also feather in the depression more where your thumb hits the opening stud.

On my Viper it was the liners that needed the edges breaking with some wet/dry, The scales got a going over but that was only because I was doing the liners, they didn’t really need it. The thumbdisk is a bit hard to get at but I got used to it.
I thought that Harnds were going to give Enlan a run for their money in the large folder market but some people had blade centring issues as well. Not really consistent Q/C.
I have a Blazer as well, big and built like a tank, just right for gloved hands.
The 9Cr18MoV blade wasn’t too sharp on the Blazer and easy enough to sharpen, the Viper was sharp though.

The Harnds is feeling a lot better after I rounded the edges end added the cut-out for my thumb to work the post.

^ Nice. I need to do that to a couple of my knives.

I have the harnds viper (silver and plain edge) and it was one of the worst sharpness i have had. I think the three worst sharpness on a knife were the sanrenmu 605, the inron my803 and the harnds viper, the two first i had to sharp them being new without use.
Well, the viper`s handle change a lot if you get a soft scourer (i hope i have choosen well the word) with a bit of neutral ph soap and you rub well. You`ll see a lot more the diamonds and change a lot the color of the border of diamonds. I did it some weeks ago with a similar result like that picture (but in sand color due my version is the plain silver).

Just thought I’d add the option of changing the scales altogether, relatively easy as you can use the liners as a pattern and there’s only 3 screws on each scale.
I’ve not seen any done yet but the shape is a good one.

That looks a lot nicer as well.
