Hey everybody,
I’ve got 7 Eagle Eye X6 lights now, and not a one of em anywhere near stock… imagine that! Tonight I took lumens measurements in the lightbox then went outside and got beamshots. Camera is the Canon GX1, settings were changed as these are all bright lights… ISO 1600 1/8 sec shutter f/5.6 at 28mm. Here’s how it went down…
#1. The Quad XP-L V6 2C de-domed XP-G2 S3 2B under a Carlco 10507 on an LG HE-2. This light is producing 2222 lumens at start. (all lumens numbers are at start. These Hi Drain lights pull that down immediately and quickly! This is the aluminum sink I made from scratch.
#2. The MT-G2 with Ledil Iris Optic on 2 Red Efest 18350V1 IMR cells. This light is producing 2239 lumens at start. (This light can make higher numbers, but the BTU Shocker and Courui are eating up all my little Purple cells. )
#3. Triple XP-L V4 3D with Ledil CUTE-3 SS polished on an LG HE-2. This light is producing 3629 3264 lumens at start. This is the scarred sample BLF Special Edition light. (swapped positions in the lightbox lineup with #4, dang this stuff is confusing!)
#4. Triple XP-L V5 2D with the Ledil CUTE-3 SS and Nitro’s Cu sink on an Sony VT C5. This light produces 3264 3629 lumens at start. (This one makes 3771 on an LG HE-2)
#5. Quad XP-L V6 3D with Carclo 10507 with Nitro’s Cu Sink and on an LG HE-2. This light is producing 3898 lumens at start.
#6. Quad XP-L V6 1A with Ledil Angie 34mm optic on Nitro’s Triple Cu Sink with 4 extra 1.6mm discs I cut out. The emitters are on 4 20mm stars cut into triangles and fit on the board. This light produces 4071 lumens on a Sony VT C5 cell. The HE-2 made 4406 and a 35A made 4561. (I questioned the numbers on the C5 so tried some others. )
#7. XHP-70 with a Minnie-M from Ledil and utilizing a custom fitted extension tube to use 2 Efest 35A cells. This light is producing 5554 lumens at start. !!!
#8. For the grand finale…the BTU Shocker Triple XHP-70 with Ledil Iris Optics and 6 Efest Purple 18350’s. This light is producing 13,489 lumens at the time of the photo shoot.
These might not look as bright as expected given the numbers, but remember that I moved the shutter up from 1/2 second to 1/8 second. The smaller lights that I use to see the settings and which light I’m shooting didn’t even show up in the viewfinder.
At some point, when you’re up against the ceiling, they all come close to being the same. Different every one, but over the top all the same. There are 3 Quads, all different. Two triples, pretty vastly different due to heat sink and emitters used. Trying various optics, and finding something that allows keeping the dome on without altering either the optic or the emitter, is really the key. Well, and the new Extreme High Performance emitters. (XHP)
Thanks for checking it out, hope you enjoyed it!
