Mini Molle Knife
This is a clone of the S and S Pocket Shiv.
$29.95 for the original, $5.59 for the clone.
So, the black one arrived and I’ve been completely underwhelmed by the performance as well as the materials, fit and finish.
Overall length: 2.5”L; 0.95”W; 0.35”Thick
Blade length: 1.05”
Blade & Sheath: 2.82”L; 0.95”W; 0.45” Thick
1.1oz w/ Sheath
Out of the box, not good, wouldn’t cut through both sides of an envelope in one pass. One edge is serrated, not shown in pics.
The Molle attachment won’t attach to molle webbing, the halves of the adapter fall apart. The fit of the knife into the sheath is just a push fit not the clip-in like I was expecting and on trying to sharpen it the blade smeared itself along a ceramic Lansky Spyder Sharpener - a 4” long ceramic triangle with medium grit set at the right angle for spyderco serrations. So the blade steel is something like 3Cr mixed with Aluminium. I still struggle to get a decent edge on it but I will persevere because I like the overall design despite the clone’s failing miserably to impress.
I’m sure that none of the faults that I’ve mentioned apply to the 440C bladed original.
I’d say a definite steer clear.
I did search for U.K. stockists of the original but it was going to be stupidly expensive to get hold of one €39 plus postage at one stockist and £60 at a U.K. based importers. Sixty freaking quid for a blade of 440C an inch long, not ever going to happen.
BTW…Forgot to mention that the one I received had one edge serrated.
