Best 1x18650 light for my need

Still looking for a bright light with throw, most members here suggest/been using a medium size lights in their hiking trip.

I already bought a Trustfire X9 and do you guys consider this big or medium? Still waiting for it to arrive.

Now I'm looking hard at these XM-L lights as seems built quality would fit my needs

1. Ultrafire 980L

2. Trustfire/Ultrafire/KD C8

3. SKY RAY/ Fandyfire STL-V3

Does anyone have a side by side pics of any of these light with a Solarforce L2?

Thanks

i have 980L already and X9 on the way. what i learned from forums 980L is better than C8 and X9 is better than 980L as a thrower. 980 may have more lumens but, X9 is a better thrower. no idea about STL-V3... if you have x9 already and want a thrower then no need to buy another what i believe. Some guy said its almost even with TK41 Smile

Thanks for the info, I have not yet received the X9 and excited to receive it, still thinking if it is the best light for me so i'm looking for more options. As of now my best thrower is the Skyline 1 and RQ moded with XM-L.

Are you saying that the RQ Spear with an XM-L throws as well as a Skyline 1?   How hard are you driving the XM-L in it?

The Skyline still throws farther but the RQ has bigger spot and bright Spill, brighter and throws farther than my Fenix LD40. The replaced driver is driving it 2.5, but I did not really tested it. I just replaced the driver from my XM-L KD 5 mode P60 dropin.

Update, I just bought a Keygos KE5, so now I have two thrower lights on the mail and 2x XTAR 2600mah 18700.

So here's the list of my thrower lights.

Trustfire X9

Keygos KE5

Solarforce Skyline 1

KD RQ XM-L

Fenix LD40

Solarforce L2M R2 w/ Aspherics

Maybe I'll take pictures of beam shots once I have them all.Smile

YES PLEASE....Smile.....Smile

It would be ideal to see them all at the same venue.   Ideal for comparison.

You'll love that light. It's hard to beat for the price. I know I couldn't believe a light that small with only 1 battery could be so dang bright.

I wanted to mention I got one like this in the mail yesterday. Slapped a cheap Ultrafire battery in it which aren't very good at all, flicked the switch and this baby is going to be a beam thrower I can already tell that. I'll have to post some shots later on once I get off from working the weekend. Excellent light for $13 shipped. I'm very impressed so far.  But it's a super tight beam thrower.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Super-Tactics-CREE-LED-400-Lm-Flashlight-Torch-Lamp-New-/120710615523?_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D1%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D2214490935578780763

Thanks for the link, Looks like a real good thrower. I'm getting broke so I'll just have to wait for the 2 new lights before deciding what to get next. I'm already full of anticipation.Laughing

Uh, very nice. Thank's for the beamshots. You wouldn't happen to have a luxmeter, would you?

I'm wondering about the highest lux between the Skyline1 and the X9. The X9 obviously has the bigger hotspot, but with the slightly increased reflecterdiameter - is it near the Skyline in throw as well?

Moving electrons to light my way.

Yes I saw that, I'm really excited with my Keygos, wanted to see which light is brighter and probably I will carry in my next climb.

Do you have a size comparison pic of the keygos to any lights you have like the Ultrafire L2 or the Skyline 1?

Anyways, I think my keygos will arrive if not late this week, early next week.Laughing

The Kegos is a good thrower and it puts out a lot of light up close too.  My Skyline 1 should be here today.  I'm really loving this new little UltraOK Cree Q5 light I got for $14.  I'm burning the light on high to see how long it will go.  It don't even get hot, and it's been burning for 1 hr and 29 min as I type this abd it's still putting out quite of bit of light.

It seems you're getting more and more lights every day.Laughing

Yea, and it seems I am a bit asleep.  I told you the wrong light.  It's the UltraOK Technology Cree Q5 w/o the gold band.  It's rated at like 300 lumens.  I meant to grab the other one with the gold band.  Silly me.

Also love to runtime test all my lights, especially those I tend to use even on special occasions only.

Interesting thread.. Im also looking for a 1x18650 light, and are getting some bits and pieces of info here and there.

Whats nice about the x9, it has that huge head.. but thats also a minus.. Because I wont have much place to put it.. (i dont own a car) and my pockets will clearly be too small.

anyway.. waiting to see what others think.

the ones that I was been dubbing are the X9 and the Keygos..

would like to read a bit more about the keygos.. its also a bit cheaper..

I already have the X9 and the Keygos will be here hopefully by end of the week. Will be comparing the two by then. hopefully other member with bright and thrower 1x18650 lights will contribute to this thread. Definitely appreciate comparison among lights...
