Nitecore EA41 & Fenix E41

I own both and think they are great flashlights. Not looking to anger anyone or say anything negative about Fenix or Nitecore flashlights. Since it is to my understanding that the emitters in both the Nitecore EA41 & Fenix E41 flashlights rest atop a plastic shelf has anyone had a premature failure with either one of these flashlights?
Thanks.

With the thermal protection circuit automatic stepdown from Turbo mode to high to medium if necessary, should prevent any overheating issues.

My EA41 gets hot fast so I guess there is thermal contact between the led and the body. I don’t know where this plastic shelf comes in though.
Edit:
So I took my EA41 apart, wanting to change the led for warmer tint XP-L.
This is the aluminium shelf upon which the led sits. It’s rather thick as you can see.

The only contact between the shelf and the body is the circumference of the shelf.

It heats up so I guess it works.

DanielM are you planning to upgrade the cooling at all ?

I had problems at both ends of my EA4W’s

The LED,s burned out and the tail swivel POS burned up was well taking 4 eneloops with it, main reason is avoid Nitecore flashlights now is the jerking around i got during the warrenty process.

Don’t think so, maybe change the aluminium shelf for a copper one? There isn’t much to do here, modding possibility is very limited. As long as I change the MPCB for a Noctigon the led will run nice and cool. The light is a nightmare to work on with its proprietary MPCB and pressfit shelf but it has a pretty nice driver.

yeah nightmare discribes it.
