I’m always on the lookout for anything i might be able to “harvest” free or inexpensive batteries from…
i had earlier in the week? got two decent 18500s on a junk sale camcorder li ion battery “infolithium”. The weekend party started with picking up 2 more 18600s out of another “infolithium” pack. I have no use YET for this size battery, but, with 4 already and another 2 possibly coming from another thrift store… looks like i will have to find a use for them, lol
so, when i saw what looked like a laptop in the garbage pile driving past, i couldnt say “no”. Worst case? i just re-toss it into the dumpster behind work.
this was a very bad laptop, lol. Looked like someone had driven over it or dropped something on it… the screen was bent and popped open… hence it got tossed.
the BATTERY pack appeared unhurt though, lol… yielded 6x18650, red in color… it was a lenovo pack on a thinkpad or something-pad… low voltage? no way… pulled them apart before leaving work? i couldnt help testing one in my little cheapie zoomie… ha ha, lit it up as bright as my 18650 i had in it, lol…
all 6 were well past 3 volts… perfect…
the lenovo pack? claimed 5600mah… which is 2800mah per cell… (2 parallel strips of 3-series each)
the “EU” lowest rating was 2600mah per cell… i realize the pack ratings are meaningless, but, good indicators.
also got a good “4 gig” memory stick out of it… and a CMOS battery too… i got GREEDY and RUSHED getting the 320gig hard drive out of it without proper tool set? and pulled the leads out of the connector. oh well…

i thought “battery fest weekend” was over for me? no way… i got roped into a “baby shower”. I took too early of a left turn? and accidentally had to re-route to get there… which took me past a YARD SALE, which of course i cant say no to…
just when i was about to leave, as i hadnt noticed anything i could want?? guy comes out, and i mentioned gabbing i was into getting “hard to find” batteries at sales like this… he saw my “vape” around my neck, and said HIS wife was into that stuff too, and he had a BOX full of “still good” batteries going cheap…
turns out she sold them to some other guy, but i was still able to get 2 cheap li-ion double bays…a sanyo 4-bay NIMH only charger (with ONE single eneloop AAA) and a small assortment of batteries…

the single AAA eneloop? was already charged to 1.28v… its my “only” eneloop, i am kinda proud of it… lol

obviously? the highlight was the 6x18650 red laptop pulls, the rest were just a “bonus”.
the 2 double bay 18650 chargers? yes they are inexpensive, but… one is identical to one i already own and trust, so… basically i paid a couple dollars for just the charger, and all the extra chargers and batteries were a bonus.

and, thus endeth “batteryfest” weekend for me, lol… even if i go out for coffee? i highly dont anticipate any further good luck getting free/cheap li-ion cells, lol…
