(sold) Quantum Tunnelling Composite Pills or Strips (perfect for twisty lights) ONE Strip Left

http://openmaterials.org/materials-101-quantum-tunnelling-composite/

I wanted to get some of the “pills” but the only ones sold in the US were the very small ones so I ordered some of these from England. These are the larger strips. They can be cut into “pills”.

They look like small rubber strips but they work on pressure to conduct current. When a battery is flush up against it but without pressure they conduct zero current. When pressure is applies they conduct more and more current as more pressure is applied. You can go from moonlight to direct drive or any place in between. (10amps max)

These strips can be cut to size and made into “pills” The strips are 100mm x 10mm x 1mm.

$2 for each pill or $15 per strip.

Free shipping in the US and as cheap of shipping as I can find for everyone else. Obviously they can just ship in an envelope.

This is an e-bay add for the smaller “pills” The pills I’m shipping are four times the size as the e-bay ones. They will be 10mm x 10mm You can cut them into four pieces but I would suggest keeping them larger and fitting them to size.

I wanted to get the price down even further but they killed me on shipping from England.

I didn’t buy a ton of these because they didn’t give bulk discounts. So it’s first come first serve for this sale.

I’ll take 1 pill

PM sent.

Has anyone tried this in a hot-rod build?

If it can carry up to 10 Amps, & can handle 1 to 100% without too much resistance/heat, it could spell “good-bye driver” in some lights.

Yep there are a few people doing them. Couple guys here and a couple on the other site. One of the guys here, I can’t remember who, used one in a AAA sized light with a XM-L2. But with the AAA sized lithium ion battery. I’m thinking they will replace drivers in a lot of twisty lights anyway.

Theres lots of info if you search QTC here.

I was thinking along the lines of a twisty myself.

I have a couple AAA QTC lights with the 4mm pads, those larger pills would be much better as you could just have a 10mm round disc down the bottom of the battery tube. Having the pill at the - end stops torsional wear and gives better control i’ve found.

Thanks for the info CRX.

Yeah I plan to use mine DD in a little 10440 light. It’s the only twisty I’ve got

Might be fun to play with, I’ll bite. PM incoming.

Thanks

I will be sending you a PM…

I’ll take a strip. I’ll PayPal 15 shortly.

Thanks.

Sounds good and I’m sure you have my PP address but if by chance you lost it let me know.

Already sent.

Got it, thanks

Down to two more strips to sell and after that they are gone.

I’d like a strip. No use for it right now, but best be prepared.

Wasn’t Tofty’s original reason for making a 10A+ tailcap to incorporate QTC + clicky?

I just shipped everyone’s strips out today. Sorry for the delay but I am recovering from shoulder surgery.

I have three strips left to sell and then that is it for them. I only got to play with them a little bit myself but so far they have been fun to use. More experimentation needed to get the most out of them though. moonlight and full high seem to be consistent with the mid modes being quirky. Pretty cool though. By the way, super glue seems to work fine holding them in place.

Thanks 18sixfifty. A word of advice from my son about the shoulder surgery. Physio, physio and physio. We need that shoulder to keep on working real good.

Thanks and I’ll keep it in mind. I’m in sling for the next week and right now I’m taking it out of the sling four times a day to let it hang loose a rotate a little. I go back in to see the surgeon after that and start physical therapy. I had the other shoulder done a few years back and it’s as good as new now. Same guy did both of them. After this I have work to do on both my knees. I have seen a few specialists and they think it’s my best shot at not having to have replacements put in. The bionic man is cool and all but I think I would prefer to keep the original equipment as long as I can.
