This is what happens, if you have some free time, and nothing to do :( (waiting for new threads, new info, waiting for some sale items)
Already noticed a member (few hundred posts) only showing up in giveaway threads on CPF and BLF;
and low and behold. about 95%+ of his posts are for giveaways...
pretty sick I have to research that.. call it strange interest
Edit: deleted table upon request.
what do I want to show with this? probably nothing, just publishing the results of my little research ;)
edit: You and us are far better off, if you just joined the talk of the day, shared your latest dream lights, shared your grief, shared your problems, showed your new mods, or post some links to new products, make a joke or two or even said hi to new members, instead of just joining for giveaways. Or maybe some are just double members accounts :(
It happens man! I feel like sometimes most of my posts are for my reviews, so I can’t really criticize. That said, I do read a ton of threads here even though I don’t post. Maybe this person is like that? I feel like sometimes I don’t have much to add, so I don’t post much.
They have cost me a bit of time that’s true- but I’m sure you know that, as a fellow reviewer. Anyway thanks, I’m glad I’m seen as a contributer to this site!
What, you were having doubts? That’s crazy. I’ve watched one of your reviews I think 50 times. You’re the Cristopher Nolan of flashlight reviews. You are unique in this field. So yes, you are seen as a major contributer.
Sorry about the rant but it really grinds my gears when good people stay behind and not so good people get in front.
Well, we all should know there are people like that in the world. It’s just not something I think about going on here. So many of the members really are so helpful, and give us so much without asking much in return. It’s shocking to think those leaches exist here. Even if they are here all the time, reading every post, that doesn’t make them a contributor to the BLF community. But, what can we do about it? Nothing, really, unless someone wants to start keeping a blacklist… :evil:
Thanks DanielM! I’ve improved my technique tenfold since I did my first one way back when. I had no idea some people watched them that much. Most of my recent reviews have 1000 or less views, some less than 500- despite me thinking I’ve improved them quite a bit. I then look at many other youtube reviews of lights, that have many many more views and figure that I must be doing something wrong- even though I think I’m doing quite a bit right.
One recent review, the manufacturer even told me they wished I had done one in a more wooded area after I reviewed it. I had to explain that despite the lack of their preferred location that I spend a lot of time on them, and I don’t often have the time or work schedule that allows me to travel to a national forest and camp for several days for the purpose of doing a flashlight review for them.
Great ChibiM, now you’ve inspired others to do what you’ve done. To think someone is in a dark room, stalking and reading all your history, post by post :bigsmile:
Hey Chibi, I'm almost at 5000 posts and I'm thinking of doing a giveaway, can you PM me the name of this giveaway-only member? so that I can reserve a small extra present especially for him, if he joins :-) (FTR, I have no evil intentions ;-) )
