Hello from Ohio :)

Hi all, i joined a couple of days ago, finally decided to take a break from reading and introduce myself. I was a flashaholic many years ago before LED lights. Recently the bug came back and bit me again. i ended up here cause i bought an UltraFake from Ebay and first time i tried to charge the batteries it got way hotter than it should. i decided to look around for why and ended up stumbling onto this site, very glad i did too. ive learned so much over the past couple of days that i ended up purchasing a Supfire m6 from Mountain Electronics. Cant wait for it to get here. anyways ive still got my 2d Mag from 20 years ago when i started, and that was where this quest began, looking for something brighter to replace it. Btw got any recommendations for good affordable batteries to power the M6?

Welcome BD. Duke says “high”.

Welcome to BLF! (and the Cavs just won game 2)

Welcome to BLF, Blackdragon1230!

Welcome to BLF!

The Panasonic NCR18650PF batteries come to mind, good quality and capacity and relatively cheap at the moment. They are unprotected batteries but your flashlight electronics should do that job fine. You do need a reliable charger, like any Xtar charger (do not buy xxxxfire batteries and chargers please!)

Cheers! Welcome to the community!

Welcome to BLF! Have fun

Thank you all for the welcomes, glad to be part of an incredibly friendly and helpful community.

How about the Nightcore D2. The reason for asking is that it can also charge all the Nimh batteries i have got. I definitely wont touch anything Ultrafire from now on. i had ended up buying an Olight 2600 a few days after the Ultrafire battery charging incident. there is a huge difference in the weight between the Olight and the Ultrafire batteries. Thank you for the recommendation, I definitely wanted to find a cheaper alternative to Olight cause they are very expensive.

Too late im afraid, Mountain Electronics took the first bite out of it and i have a feeling there will be more soon…… mods (drooling). Im already looking at the Uniquefire UF-1401 next.

Welcome to the BLF ! Learn and enjoy yourself. :exmark:

Nitecore chargers are perfectly fine.

I hope you have fun here, Blackdragon1230!

Hi, Dragon.

I've been a fan of Keeppower batteries for quite a while, but I've used everything from Hi-Max to Tenergy to Sanyos to Panasonics (of various types) and can recommend any number/type of them. There are, however, tons of resources 'round here on that. You will spend a lot of time over the next few months reading up on everything from drive current to amps to tint-shifts to wiring/modding details, etc. Honestly, it can drive one crazy--and the only remedy is to bury yourself in the euphoria of spending to deaden the delirium.

We have relatives in Columbus. I just can't stand the cold anymore!

Welcome!

Its really a small world, your in San Antonio, i was born and spent first 16 years of my life near Beaumont, Galveston, and Houston area. Moved to Ohio cause of having family here as well. As far as batteries go, so far ive disposed of the (Explosivefires) old batteries that came with the light and bought and Olight 2600mAh 18650. there is a huge weight difference between the ultrafires and the Olight. now im just looking to get a more affordable 18650 than OLight. Oh and so far ive passed out twice sitting at my computer reading through all the fun stuff( was reading for about 9 hours straight).

Delve deeply into the BLF annals and don’t be shy with questions.

Guaranteed i will be asking many questions. Modding the flashlight electronics is something i eventually want to do, but right now is a little over my head.

Most of us started out that way. I first found this place looking for…answers.
