Those awesome deals have been there for like a month. I posted one somewhere long ago. Was wondering why there are still some left. I grabbed a predator V2.5 NW.
I’ve had a V11R XM-L for over a year and a half and I’ve held off buying the extension for no particular reason, other than I’ve been happy running IMR 16340s in it. I’ve got some bare Sanyo 840mAh cells here and they’re able to make contact on the positive side, after checking today. They don’t work in my L3 L10, nor my Icon Rogue 1 without some help. My EVVA protected BT 840s are just to long to fit in most of my lights.
Well, I’ve got an extension tube coming now. I also ordered that Efest 3x18650 battery zip case holder and 4 of the silicone 18650 jobbies with what I saved.
I live in the UK, but was on holiday in Florida a couple of weeks ago. I took the opportunity to purchase an EagleTac D25C Ti 2014 from Andrew-Amanda (after best-offer deal). Then I also saw this at $39.99 and decided it would be foolish to pass up a such a rare fantastic price, especially whilst I was state-side. Bought from Illumn after being assured by Craig that it could be delivered in time before I left the US.
So now these are the King and Queen of my current-gen 16340 lights.
BUT - I didn’t think to search for the battery extension tube! Gutted - would have gladly added it to the order at the time. Now it would cost an extra $7.25 for international USPS shipping. Hardly the end of the world, but still nearly double when relative to the item’s low price of just $10.
Is there likely to be any other seller or opportunity to purchase the extender for less that $20/£13 including UK delivery? Perhaps a local or European seller? If not, it may still be worth picking this up now whilst I can.
The customer service of both A-A and Illumn have been impeccable. Including extra special attention during the ordering stage and dealing with individual concerns. A* for them both.
I actually EDC either the V11R, or the D25C Ti. clicky—most everyday. I got the latter through Andrew & Amanda off of Ebay and they’re good ‘people’ with good prices.
Make sure that you try out some AW IMR 16340s in both.
For anyone else in the same predicament, the extender is available direct from Amazon.co.uk for just £13.83 (free delivery over £20 as usual). Not much difference between prices, but will be faster UK delivery.
Sometimes manufacturers do a redesign and the older models need to be blown out to make room for the new and improved models. Sometimes a business has too much inventory on the shelf, which can cost them 1-2% per month and they need to convert that inventory into cash for the next purchase, so getting close to cost vs. hoping to sell the widgets at MSRP, six months down the road, is the prudent play.
On Wednesday, I ordered one of the SWM V11R extension tubes and several silicone/hard 18650 holders. I got my package today from Illumination and guess what? No extension tube, but a brand new V11R XM-L2 inside!
I got back home and emailed them about their mistake and suggested that they present me with an offer to keep it and not require ‘us’ to fiddle with return shipping labels and trips to the post office.
Craig told me half price…$20 (lol) and I agreed, buying a second extension tube in the process for $10, so I’ve got a brand new V11R -L2, two extension tubes coming, 4 silicone 18650 holders and the Efest 3x18650 ‘case’ for $49 shipped.
Great customer service and remember, it never hurts to ask.
