*Won Paypal case!!* Opus v2.2 issue.

See last post for update.

Bought an Opus C3100 v2.2 from GB last month and I noticed there are severe issues with the 4th bay.

-Max output is 600-700mA
-Voltage reading is off by -/+ 0.3V
-Internal resistance reading always show higher than other bays.
-It overcharges NiMh batteries causing them to overheat
-Capacity reading is wrong with NiMh batteries and I dumped a perfectly fine eneloop because it showed IR of 190 and 1300mAh capacity.

The rest of the bays works fine, have you encountered this before?

Already contacted GB and still got 6 days until paypal’s 45-days protection time expires. If GB doesn’t solve this within 4 days I’m going to file a claim.

Here’s the video:

I accidentally blew one of the channels in my OPUS 2.0. I was using alligator clips to charge individual cells in a cell pack and accidentally touched the wrong cell. I was able to repair it, but my point is that the OPUS is in effect 4 separate chargers that share some common components.
You must have a bad channel in yours.

Gearbest just responded and they gave me two options:

$20 credit, or pay $10 to have a new one shipped.

How do you say I should proceed? If I take the replacement there are chances that it’s also defective or will break in a short period. If I take the credit I will be practically buying a faulty charger for $15, and perhaps use the credit to but the new version opus?

Paypal. You should get 100% replacement, or 100% refund. They organise return of their dud product. GearBest always try this route first. Share the loss is their motto it seems.

Whatever you do, start the PayPal process now anyway (do not allow the 45 days to pass) . You can always close it if you prefer later on, but I wouldnt be closing it until I had money back in my BANK, not credit, or a new working charger in my hands. This may take a month or so, but you have the time with PayPal once a dispute is lodged.

Yeah that sound like the right thing for them to do, but wouldn’t paypal ask me to ship the item back? It has happened before, this is the reason I didn’t open the dispute, once I filed a claim for a $20 item, and paypal asked me to send it back and the shipping was $30.

I just noticed the protection period is 180 days instead of 45, but to be sure I will file the claim 2 days before the time windows closes.

Just a little update here, in case any of you encounters a faulty charger like this from GB or whatever Chinese site.

-Ordered May/28, received June/29.
-Reported to GB of faulty charger the next day
-3 days later GB offered a $20 coupon, I denied it and asked for a replacement or full refund.
-Went to paypal and opened a dispute, then GB offers a $12 refund. Yes, they lowered the offer.
-2 weeks and several messages through paypal later, I escalated it to a claim, asking my $35 back. GB denied the petition so we waited for paypal to decide the outcome.
-Today, exactly 2 months after ordering, I received a email from paypal that I will get full refund, not only for the $35 charger but for the entire order of $48. (plus some other stuff)

So the next time they sell a defective product, they might have to think twice before denying 3 times a reasonable and deserved refund. It’s not their fault for the defective charger, but could’ve been avoided this loss if they had handled this correctly.

Paypal gives the seller 7 days to respond messages, and GB staff waited until the very last minute to answer. This is the real reason I escalated the dispute to a claim, because they were trolling me!!

On a side note, isn’t the paypal 45 day limit a thing of the past?

6 months now, which is pretty insane if you ask me. This would basically allow any buyer to treat any purchase, maybe even “AS IS” or items sold with like 30 or 90 day warranties, as items with 6 month warranties. Good for buyers bad for sellers. Well I guess if the extended claim policy is abused it would cause an increase in prices for buyers as well.

As a buyer and seller I have mixed feelings about the 6 month policy.

Yeah I have to agree. 90 or even 60 days would have been sufficient.

1. Item stopped working within warranty period
I am testing a case of a dead Sunwayman at the moment. I know they are on holidays at the moment and is waiting on their response.

2. Item not yet received after 60 days (to test)
I will also start another ‘test case’ thread of light bulbs that have after 60 days NOT YET been received. Never bothered with it as it is of low value (about $10ish for 6 led bulbs) but I want to see how they handle the case.

3. Item in stock when ordered but really out of stock
Last time, I had ordered a car charger which was on flash sale. They did not have it in stock and 5 days later, I insta paypaled that purchase after contacting CSGEARBEST here. 2 days later, my money was refunded and I could purchase from BG which ships relatively much much faster than GB….
