Video review Thorfire KL02 - Beam shot added

Video review and thoughts. I have been talking to Thorfire, to see if they would make one with a different led and with modes. They are looking into it, but we could probably come up with something and possibly give them ideas.

I really like the light, but I would prefer a moonlight mode and possibly a medium and high. There's a bunch of twisty lights out there, but something about this light just appeals to me.

The board is basically a contact plate with the led and a resistor on it. I think we could develop an 18mm board with something like an XB-D Cree on the board, with some type of simple controller circuit, to do modes. I'm not smart enough to do that, but I bet one of you guys could come up with something. No room for a board and a mcpcb, so the led has to be small and you can't put a lot of power into it, since the led will have to be right on the board. With a small footprint led, there ought to be room for a simple mode control circuit by placing the components around the led.

Take a look at the video and see what you think? I would like Thorfire to do a BLF model of this one, or at least a custom model with modes. Between BLF, CPF and other forums, we ought to get 500 or so sold and they might go for that.

First shot is with the small garage door opener light

Then with the KL02, with a 16340 in it.

Good review OL and now I want one or two of these. I don’t think it’s anything I’d ever want for a key chain light but it does look like something that would make a good area light while camping.

Thanks, O-L.

I like this light, got one coming from Banggood for 4$ and a few pennies. I think a nicer one with multi modes would sell well - over 500 or them no problem.

I enjoyed watching the review. Thanks for posting it OL. The KL02 looks ok. Considering it’s price point it seems a good buy for someone looking at a good performing low cost keychain/mini light. The improvements you suggest would make for a better end result with a small increase in cost.

Now that is a thorough video on a good little light, thanks Old Lumens….
