Any new info on 14500 batteries - need around 10pcs, maybe 8pcs.

Hello, most of the stuff about 14500 batteries is from 2013 etc. Anybody know what I should buy?

Etc: http://www.gearbest.com/14500-battery-\_gear/c_11298/ any of thees that is worth spending money on?

I have also got a good offer on GTL (IC) 14500 batteries, but after Googling, I found several bad reviews from 2012-2013. They told that GTL was garbage.

On Ebay it’s mostly Ultrafire batteries when I search for 14500 and GTL.

Any idea?

I would read some of HKJ’s reviews, and then get great value on quality batteries from MtnElectronics.

I like the AW IMR’s & Windyfire button tops are only $2.99

I believe the Sanyo UR14500P 840mAh is still one of the best choices. For protected the KeepPower 840mAh (Sanyo UR14500P with seiko protection). But it might be worth the shipping to get the protected evva UR14500P from mtnelectronics.
What light is it for? Over 3amps? Go with windyfire then.

^ The one HKJ tested was the red Windyfire 14500 IMR 600mAh. I don’t see it on that site.

I figured it would be cost prohibitive for a guy in Norway to order from RMM because of the shipping.

It’s just for C21 600LM Lumen CREE Q5 LED flashlight, nothing fancy.
Maybe I go for the Sanyo then, since they have them on Gearbest

That light will not have low voltage warning / protection since it’s 14500 / AA. I would recommend protected 14500s.

Bandgood has keeppower 840mAh 14500 in stock.

If you only want to buy from gearbest then I would recommend the keeppower 800mAh 14500. The keeppower 800mAh do not contain sanyo cells, instead they are chinese cells. Seem to be decent quality cells though.

How can you see that Gearbest is out of the 840mAh KeepPower? I just ordered 8 of them, and it’s says 3-5 days processing on them. Total was $40.

http://www.gearbest.com/chargers-batteries/pp_104195.html says out of stock. I only see the 800mAh (chinese cell, not sanyo cell) in stock at gearbest.

You are right, and I ordered the wrong items…hope they are not so bad. At least, they are protected

I’ve recently tried the new Trustfire IMR 14500, it’s decent with ~640mAh true capacity ’@ 1A. Voltage drop very low, still maintain ~4V @ 1A after 5 minutes. So it’s a real IMR.

Bought for $6.74 per pair from DX. Cheaper with 3+.

But for flashlights, should I not look after more mAh, not less?

Things to consider for batteries would be budget, capacity, and current. And normally you’ll have to sacrifice two to get higher performance in one.

Well, if you can ignore budget, you only need to choose between capacity vs current delivery. IMR will give higher current with lower capacity, and ICR vice versa.

on the site you listed I see the

http://www.gearbest.com/batteries/pp_189848.html

which I think is the guts of any of the good cells

stick with sanyo

Problem was that this is unprotected, I wanted protected cells (was recommended that)

No worries, the 800mAh ones are still good. And keepower uses quality seiko protection chips.
Here is a detailed test / review by HKJ. Test/Review of Keeppower 14500 800mAh

Ask for a cancel a refund from Gearbest, and ordered the right 840 version from Banggood.

Remember that with all Keeppowers from Gearbest you can use the code "KEEPPOWER" during checkout for a discount.

Just make sure it reduces the price as it can sometimes increase already discounted items.

Hirsh

P.S. There are many battery (ICR & IMR) related codes on M4D M4X's thread worth using with Banggood. Especially if you want Nitecore's new IMR 14500 cell for maximum amps on something like their EA11 light.

Reviving this thread with a question:

Is Olights 14500 that comes with S15R a good battery?

Stated capacity is 750mAh, however no reviews and no data of cell, I sent message to Olight, hopefully they will answer at least what kind of cell they use.

The idea is to have at least 4 identical 14500 in case I need to run them in my 4xAA or even 8xAA lights, with dummy cells mixed in ofcourse :D!

Or should I just order 4 pieces of UR4500P unprotected ones for 3.9$ a piece and be done with it?

Ive got 14500 fever…
