Gearbest selling fraudulent AWT batteries

I was looking through Gearbest sight looking up some batteries when I ran across this page :http://m.gearbest.com/batteries/pp_178120.html. and noticed it clearly said AWT style so being suspicious I contacted Vivian from AWT industries who is very knowledgeable on her products and she
told me gear best is not an authorized dealer and that the AWT batteries are fraudelent. Vivian also sent me these photos to show which clarify which are authentic please forgive I really suck at loading pictures and for some reason my phone is having a heck of a time with Photobucket

Well, the description says - "AWT style" - which which would tell most people that they are only "made in the style of" - not the actual brand.

but it is also very misleading at the same time especially the way they are wrapped intentionally to look like the oem brand

Disturbing that GB is again making foolish mistakes. They really are getting to be the worst of the lot around here. They just absolutely have no clue at all. Remember DX was like this for a long time and still is, to an extent and some of the others were too. Now GB is the seller with the least appealing customer support and lack of concern about what it will put on it's pages. It's too bad that all these sellers from overseas cannot understand honesty in advertising. Well, ok, but at least a little more honest than they all do around here and then they play like they don't have a clue. Would be interesting to know if they really don't have a clue, or they are just pretending to be so naive about products.

Adding “AWT style” does not give them a pass imho. If you don’t want to mislead then stop selling counterfeit or clearly label them “Fake AWT”, not style. And I think it originally did not even say “AWT style”.

Fake as a 3 dollar bill.

People have called the police for someone paying with a usa 2 dollar bill. And there has been times the secret service has been forced to come out to tell them that 2 dollar bills are indeed real and valid tender still being printed today.

Grace from AWT is here.

Has anyone compared the claimed specification for the “… Style” battery to the real one?

Are they copying only the picture of the real thing, or are they also copying the description of the real AWT product?

Or, if anyone actually got one, are they also copying the shrinkwrap?

Or did they get a “night production line” batch from some factory where the people just didn’t close the doors when they’d made the desired quantity for AWT, but instead ran an extra batch?

Or, of course, are they selling “gray market” cells they got somewhere second hand, or of a quality that the manufacturer doesn’t approve of?

It’s too damned confusing to try to guess, when all we know for certain is the vendor support person doesn’t know what he’s selling.

Thanks lj to post the news to the forum members about the fake AWT that gb has sell to their customer. sorry everybody, that i don’t know how to post a photo to tell you guys how to distinguish the fake AWT and original AWT. Wow, people should follow that link, here is an excerpt:

These photos are from Grace’s link in post 8.

Good Day Grace Vivian Aweite,

Are the AWT Batteries sold by Fasttech genuine AWT product?

See:

https://www.fasttech.com/search?awt%20battery

Thank you Very Much,

George

Never heard of AWT batteries, are they any good, are they made in China?

Fasttech AWT batteries are authentic batteries as well as IMR batteries out of Texas as Grace told me they are. And yes AWT are a Chinese manufactured high qaulity batteries Grace has sent some to HKJ to have him put through their paces a smart move in my opinion

I’m ignoring everything else in this thread for now, and everyone can rip me for this if they want, maybe deservedly so. AWT rewraps other manufacturer’s cells, and has been known to claim otherwise. They are in a glass house throwing stones. There, I said it. Flame away.

Well, other than your hostile tone, you’re not wrong. AWT does not have its own manufacturing facilities so they, just like Efest, Keeppower, and tons others are rewrappers. The difference might be the quality of cells that they rewrap. Trustfires are rewraps, and the only thing I trust is that they’ll start a fire, AWTs might be better.

The only makers of good quality cells are Sony, Samsung, Sanyo, Panasonic and LG.

But none of the manufactures of top quality cells make individual cells with protection (or even sell cells directly at all). Panasonic, Sanyo, Samsung, LG, sony will tell you all li-ions require protection so re-wrappers do serve a good purpose. Keeppower and Evva seem to be lowest cost ones that use quality seiko protection chips.

Exactly - I think all the top makers will tell you that their cells are not for sale to the individual consumer. Maybe a bit of CYA.

Grace, have you talked with Gearbest about having these removed? If not, is that something you plan to do?
