Already making good progress. I’ll be hitting the post office today with whatever orders are paid for by around 2pm central time.

Nice. Looks like the label says bin D280-300. Should be just a bright or brighter than the ones DB Custom got.

Over half of the LED’s I have set aside to sell have been spoken for. If it turns out that there’s a lot more demand than I expected I may sell some of the ones I bought for myself so that people who want some can get them without the outrageous shipping costs from overseas.

The first dedome attempt of a 219c using MEM’s mystery fluid and hanging technique. The success or failure of this will determine how I use these LED’s. Does anyone else have plans to try and use the Nichia’s dedomed?

If I’m successful these are going to be fantastic for high output parallel cell search lights. I’ve also got some XQE’s to play with in something small. I’m interested in seeing what the throw difference is between a dedomed XP-G2 vs dedomed XQE in a pocket thrower. Obviously the spot will be smaller and runtime longer with the XQE, but will it be any more intense?

I was planning on slicing mine, but if you find a reliable dedoming method I might just do that instead.

Well the first attempt at a dedome wasn’t a success. The weight of the Noctigon was too much and it pulled some of the phosphor off with the dome once most of the dome had come loose. I’ve got another one in exactly the same way minus the MCPCB. We’ll see if significantly less weight allows the dome to come loose without the phosphor damage.

The scratching around the die was me seeing what was under the white layer, it’s not the way it should look. If you didn’t know any better you’d think djozz and I are battling for ugliest dedome of the year.

Sofar you win

I’m hoping to redeem myself with the currently running attempt.

BTW, excellent retort.

I’ve redeemed myself. Second dedome attempt is pretty good looking, even if my pictures aren’t.

i de-dome lots of emitters while still in the light because the ones i usually de-dome are very cheap lights and lots of times i just don't care ..it's too simple. I use a tall double shot glass add a napkin wadded up and then take a small ball of cotton off of a q-tip and add it to make a tiny ball onto the paper napkin and add a bit of gas and let the paper and cotton act like a wick ..I rest the dome of the light onto the cotton ball and walk away for ..overnight .next day the dome drops right off and then i gently clean it all up with a q'tip and alcohol ..let it all dry out and thats it ..The lazy mans de-dome .

That’s not the lazy way Boaz, sounds like a lot of working with all the paper and cotton and gas and wasting a shot glass on something that isn’t Bourbon…

I cut a circle around the dome with a scalpel, turn the light on, pop the dome, put it back together. Takes about 45 seconds.

From what’s being said here though, that won’t work on these Nichia’s. :frowning:

Ill take 4 XP-G2

PM’s replied to. The first LED’s got to their buyers today. I’m going to open up some more of the Nichia’s for you guys. I think my thrower project is going to use S4 2B’s.

Why would anyone need a shot glass when you could just be drinking straight out of the bottle .?

Straight out of the bottle? How quaint.
