I disagree. Have you used a l3 innovations L08? Great mode spread (4 levels). How about a thrunite ti3? 3 levels with massive jump from moonlight to next level.

Let's wait for the poll result.   For a clicky, changing mode is much easier.  Having the extra mode or not doesn't make too much difference.

I voted for three modes, but in truth I prefer four modes: I like the strobe...Innocent

3 modes is more than enough for an AAA light.

I prefer only one mode in clicky pocket flashlight but with two no problem.

Sorry for my bad English (gogole transtorla)

If we stay with 3 mode. How about bumping the first mode up to 3 lumens?

Edit : beaten to it!

The Thrunite lights tend to do about 0.1 lm – 20 lm – 150 lm, with mode memory. They would be better without memory, and without such a large gap between firefly and medium.

My lumen calculator says that even mode spacing would be:

  • 0.5 lm – 20 lm – 100 lm
  • - or -
  • 0.5 lm – 9 lm – 38 lm – 100 lm

If we can get the latter, it’d be nice. But the former is decent too.

My thought also on a light this size. Nothing fancy needed. Looks good and functional as 3 mode IMO.

4 modes is great. Thrunite Ti3 has problematic spacing of 3 modes. You really need 4 modes if you have a moonlight mode. Plus tail clicky makes mode selection trivial compared to a twisty interface.

The latter sounds very good to me (I voted for 4 :))….

The 3 modes won, even they are really close.    Many people could like it,some might live with it too, while some might give up. Thank you.

Let's go for it and end the endless discussion.

Not a very convincing outcome.

Thats why I think 3-20-100 would have been good, not much use for 0.5 in my opinion.

There are several things people simply won’t agree on. Moon mode is one of those things, as are the number and order of modes. I think this poll shows how evenly split some preferences can be.
