Maxtoch SN6X-2X with XHP-50?

I’m interested in doing a project with something more powerful than a XM-L2, so I’m thinking of putting an XHP-50 and a LD-2 driver in a Maxtoch SN6X-2X. But I thought I would check to see if this would actually work before I spent any money.

AFAIK the XHP-50 is the same size as the XM-L2 so I wouldn’t need to rework the reflector to fit a larger LED as I would with the XHP-70 or MT-G2. And the SN6X-2X looks to be a good 2x 18650 host with a large head and reflector, so capable of a) dealing with heat and b) getting the light downrange.

Sounds appealing. I have yet to own an XHP-50 light.

I’d be interested to follow the experiment VaKo.

Good idea, but I am not sure if the beam pattern would be nice considering the SN6X 2X has a smooth reflector and the XHP 50 being a quad core emitter.

I’m collecting parts for a similar project right now. I picked up a Shadow TC 500 a few months ago and wanted to do something a little different with it since I have more throwers than I can use.

I just received an XHP50 J2 5A on a Maxtoch 31.5mm MCPCB from MTN today, I just need to order a FET driver from Vestureofblood and a coated lens and I’ll be good to go.

I’m not really worried about the beam, I don’t think it will be very noticeable at distance but if it is I’ll stipple the reflector.
I’m not going for all out throw, hoping to get something to fill the void between my XM-L2 SRK and XP-L HI D01.
