Help reward OLD4570 and get more reviews! Cost is nothing from you.

edit: For those that wish to simply send a paypal contribution to OLD4570, his address is old4570 (at) yahoo.com

As all of you are probably aware, BLF member "OLD4570" has been very busy collecting batteries, chargers, lights and other products to test and review on our behalf. His reviews are thorough and detailed, which allows us to make informed pre-purchase decisions. He has also taken leadership in creating a battery database to report test results from most all of the batteries we use or consider purchasing. With the overwhelming amount of miserable JUNK coming out of China in relation to our hobby, I cant tell you how many times a thorough review has saved many of us from wasting money on something not even fit for the garbage can! It takes time and money to amass the items worth your money, and OLD works hard to find them and get the word out to us.

OLD4570 is a struggling student with a real passion for this hobby. As you can imagine, it must be very difficult for him to continue bringing us a constant flow of reviews without some assistance. Well there is something we can all do to help him, and it wont cost us anything but a few minutes of our time.

Probably nearly everyone has purchased from our excellent preferred vendor manafont.com, or has seriously considered it. Their A+ rating and great deals for quality products and customer service is legendary around here and well deserved. Manafont offers a referral program to reward a member for bringing more business to their web site.

Although the rewards are small, if we each take the one following step as a group, there might be enough to generate a few extra dollars for "old" to buy more of the items that we might all be considering for ourselves... so OLD can review them... so we can buy them... so we can all be happy flashaholics... and buy more stuff... and earn more points to buy even more stuff.

1) If you dont have a manfont account and want one, please click:

http://www.manafont.com/index.php?rp=08288

and fill in the blanks. Its that simple! You're done! Now, every time you make a purchase through manafont, "OLD" will be rewarded and given a few manafont points that he can use towards his future purchases. There is no negative impact on your account and you also still continue accumulating manafont points of your own to use towards your purchases.

2) If you already have a manafont account - first, spend all your points on your next purchase (I had less than $1 worth of points so I just abandoned the account). Next, stop using that account and create a new one... go to step 1 and click the link to create your new account. Its that easy... all done!

This isnt going to make OLD a rich man by any means, but it should help alleviate some of the financial burden.

Id like to thank OLD4570 and the many, many others that contribute heavily in sharing their knowledge and making this the best friendly flashlight forum anywhere.

Mr. Admin, can you please sticky this?

Thanks everyone!

I will update this post as additional referral programs are discovered to assist our man-of-the-week.

I fully agree that we could help old4570 to make more reviews, and #1 is a good way to do this.

However, #2 sounds fishy, cheating or almost a fraud. I don't think Jim would approve that. (At least I wouldn't if it would be my shop)

Instead of #2, could we simply donate him some money via Paypal? For example $1/person from all BLF members..

Ive had an ongoing email conversation with Jim and he is very well aware of my intentions. He was unable to accommodate existing customers by inserting OLD's code and suggested making a new account.

I wouldn't even mind contributing my own $$ to a PayPal account for old4570's future battery purchases from other sources.

I would go with this too, since my purchases overall are quite small not to even mention about what I randomly get from Manafont...

The point is that collectively and over time, this could add up to something. Besides, its completely free.

I Like it. Thank's for the opertunity to give somthing back to a member who has shared valuable info along with informative reviews.

I tried that when I brought the blf tank007. I put old4570 email address(old4570@yahoo.com) in, but I could not get it to register. Step by step instruction?

Just 1 question, is jayki.com belong to old4570? If it is, this(http://www.jayki.com/notice_board/5887) can help. Not.

Jayki.com belongs to Jayki , a guy from Sydney ... He used to run a budget light thread over at CPF and he got really upset when the admins started dumping posts in his thread ..

Generally his thread become a mess because of the amount of posts dumped ... Jayki getting upset got CPF to start up a dedicated [ but locked ] section for budgetlights ..

Jayki started Jayki.com , since I got started on his threads , and I was getting a little PU'ed myself with what was going on , I started posting on Jayki.com ...

And then after CPF broke the second camels back I came here to BLF .

Im currently trying out wordpress [ looks interesting ] - bloging software ... But time is a little short

Back to Jayki , he started a new job , had a baby , so no longer has the time to dedicate to flashlights [ I guess - dont hear very much from him ] ...

Hopefully he will be back in the fold before too long

Hey old4570, can you PM me your PP addy please?

I'd like to send a buck your way, as I don't spend much loot with MF.

OLD, there might be several people that would like to make a paypal contribution. Maybe you could just post the email address here for others.

Is it ok to post a paypal address here? There are several pro spammers lurking.

+1

Im not sure he would get spammed. If its a gmail address, I think it would be rather safe. My hotmail seems to do a good job at directing junkmail to the appropriate folder. Does anyone have some advice?

Doing some research, its possible to add a paypal button to a post, but it doesnt look like such a simple procedure with html copy/paste using this editor.

Google search finds many such articles for paypal widgets.

OLD4570, if you want a wordpress...I could help with that?

I have hosting (not the best) but I could set you up for free, and help out with the running of the site.

(i know I'm new but already have a few sites, and you could always move after a bit and run it yourself)

One can add a new, disposable, Gmail address to one's account.

That way, if it gets hammered, discarding is not a hardship.

Both excellent suggestions. What say you Old?

old4570 (at) yahoo.com [ is attached to my PP ] There is a small notice on the Battery Database .. [ small ]
