Modding an SK68?

Hi all. I received my second SK68 style light. I like these little lights but this one was advertised as 1 mode and turned out to be a three mode. Uugh.

Is there anything i can do to make it one mode, just high? I ended up getting a partial refund so I can spend a couple dollars if needed.

Thanks!

You could directly wire the batt to the LED, but then you must use a 14500 Li-Ion, not primary AA's. No low voltage protection of course, because no driver electronics.

I got one of these in today (they were on sale for $2 or so, now $2.54, maybe there’s a coupon that would reduce that, dunno)
As claimed it’s a single mode on/off, works with NiMH and Li-ion (and so would work with alkaline too)
Hollow pill, not-a-Cree emitter on a “Cree” board. Typical very blue-white.

you can try a small trick on the driver if you manage to disassemble the head.

pry out the driver board and locate that brown rectangle capacitor. There should only be one brown capacitor. If not then usually the furthest capacitor away from the cylinder looking coil should be the one.

either you draw it with pencil mark to alter the memory to one mode or bridge the capacitor with solder. It should remove modes or made it hard to access them

Cool, thanks! The head on this one seems much harder to disassemble. My other one has a screw in retainer ring. This one just has the reflector pressed in. And it’s tight!

+1 on this.

Thanks. I’m going to have to see if I can find a way to get it apart without destroying something.
