What really makes this penlight different is the excellent Moonlight, perfect for middle of the night when you don’t want to ruin your night vision. Also with the XP-G2 it has a beautiful smooth beam to it and the tint is a nice white.
This new PF03 model is an improvement over the old PF01 both in size and more importantly in the fac that is has No PWM now.
If you point the beam at a fan, you will not see the blades stopping and or freezing in the lower modes like was present in the PF01.
If you want more output than stock, use a Primary Lithium, these cells have about 1.8 volts when new and kick up the light a notch, plus they won’t leak like a normal alkaline over time.
The PF03 tolerates the increased voltage with ease and retains all modes perfectly.

And for you 10440 freaks here ya go, two shots with a 10440 @3.85 volts, all modes held fine. I did not, however, run this very long as I had more shots to do for the review with regular Ni-Mh. I am going to get some Life-Po’s and run those long term and see how it fares. Should be fine.
So, I am saying, I did NOT run an Efest at 4.2 volts

Am currently running the PF03 on a Nice Lithium primary, Been EDC’ing for the past 5 days and really like the flashlight even thought the switch is stiff. It seems to be getting better as time goes on or I am getting better at pushing the button down.
You can also just switch modes by loosening the head, leave the switch on, only takes about 1/8 turn to shut off/on.

To sum up, this Flashlight cannot be beat at $17.99 and the shipping is very fast from Amazon

Nice, glad you tried a 10440 for the rest of us…. I snuck a LiFePO4 10440 into the one my wife commandeered, it was brighter for sure. Running a Streamlight Mirostream on a 3.2V LiFePO4 made for a little less light than a 3.7V LiIon 10440, (still 2x alkaline for output on LiFePO4) but it ran much cooler too.

Great review and thanks for the excellent pictures!

Thanks for testing!

So just to be clear, you were able to use 10440 with all three modes and then you went back to using NiMH and all three modes still worked like normal?

Hey bugsy,
As stated above “all modes held fine. I did not, however, run this very long as I had more shots to do for the review with regular Ni-Mh. I am going to get some Life-Po’s and run those long term and see how it fares. Should be fine.”

Will add the above description to the OP.

I wasn’t feeling brave enough to run full charge at 4.2 volts, I think the light will run happy and cool with the LiFePO4 3.2volt batteries.
Am going to order these tonight;
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Set-of-4-10440-LiFePO4-batteries-Soshine-3-2V-280mAh-1-hardcase-/121685764094?hash=item1c550967fe:g:7QQAAOSw9N1ViRxa
Nice package in that it is a sealed package with Soshine logo rather than risk possible fake loose ones. I know they cost more here than FastTech but think they will arrive quicker thru Ebay.
DX Soul has them but shipping is only free on order over $15 and their selection of flashlight goods in the USA whse. is not that great, plus do not really know how fast they actually process and deliver.
Will update again when they are received.
Can not find the 10440 LiFePO4 in the USA other than the DX.

I couldn’t help myself. Tried a 10440, definitely fried the driver :(.

btw the MT06 and Trustfire mini-03 both fit on the battery tube. So if you want to change the mini 03 from a twisty to a clicky you can!

!!

I would like to see this light with a Nichia 219B. Or put this driver in the BLF-348.

I second that. Would love to see an XP-G2 in the 348. I love the sleek/minimalistic design of the 348.
