plate copper for heat sinking or mcpcb

I have acquired a bit of copper plate. Would make great mcpcb or heat sinks. Also, can punch out circular, square, and oval slugs of various sizes. I will sell some of it for now at extremely reasonable prices. I hate to scrap it at current recycle prices but i don’t have the space to store all of it either. If anyone is interested in any of this plate let me know.

What thickness? I’d love a 6”–8” square of 1/4”.

The largest plate I have is ~ 16” x 16” @ .060”. Several are about ~ 6” x 10” @ .060” (~1.8mm or 1/64”). I had a whole 3X8’ sheet but I turned my back for 15 minutes and someone had sheared it to small pieces before I stopped them. I do have a bar that measures 2” x 7” xx .880”.

Ok, I have a local spot for scrap sheet stock up to 3mm. Don’t think I can handle 7/8” stock.

is there a smaller piece which is 16mm and about the thickness of a regular mcpcb or maybe 3/4 the thickness or maybe even half the thickness

yup. how many do you want? all of the mcpcb’s ive been buying lately have been the exact same thickness as the plate I have.

What size (diameter) circles can you punch out? Like can you do 1.375’’ x 2mm 1.750” x 2mm thick?

I am interested, what State are you in? Also I am sure there will be tremendous interest here, especially if you can punch slugs

I am pretty sure I can. I will check this morning. We have a punch machine at work and a large number of dies. If you will, sometime around 9 a.m. inquire again on this thread. It will ding my phone and remind me lol.

Cool 9:00am Break time!!

O.K. what grade of copper 101, 110? what diameter slugs can you do? And what thickness’s? Can you post a pic of a stamped out slug too? Thanks!

Pls quote me a price including shipping for a 16 mmX1.55mm. Another 16mmX1mm. And 16mmX1.8mm. Thanks

Can you please check to see if the slugs are flat after punching out? I think with some punches the slug becomes rounded (domed) especially near the edges.

i do have a die big enough to stamp out a slug between 1.32 - 1.38…… I wasnt able to actually stamp one today but I do have a die to do it if that margin is close enough

im just reading all the posts. i punch out some 16mm slugs and yes they are a bit rounded…… Im experimenting with the die though and trying to concave it, angle it (for a slice effect), and etc…. if anyone has any suggestions or knows a trick please advise

the punch is also causing the 1.8mm to thin out to ~ 1.2 mm.

not sure on prices yet cuz im not sure what it is gonna take to produce a good flat uniform slug. It wont be much I promise. I am more interested in meeting people with like kind interests than I am trying to profit on nickels and dimes lol. Shipping will probably cost more than I would want for just a couple small slugs. But I will work pricing out soon.

i have no clue of the grade. How can this be determined? Also I have some flat stock measuring approximately 8” long x 1.5 ” wide by 1.4 thick.

I will take pics of the copper stock i have and the slugs being punched as soon as I can (tonight maybe prolly tomorrow though).

I will place an order when you are ready. This would be very helpful!

The Online Metals Product Guide | OnlineMetals.com® Maybe this can help if you knew the intended purpose of the material you have on hand? What was the copper going to be used for? You can also contact them, and ask if there is way to narrow it down for you and us? I use C110 H04 because it’s a little easier to machine, sometimes?
