Did GearBest just send me fake batteries? Updated: CS Refunded.

I just got my Samsung INR18650 30Q’s from GearBest, but they look like they were pulled out of the trash. Did they just send me garbage batteries?

Update

So GearBest gave me a full refund in the form of store credit and even gave me additional points. I didn’t even ask for a refund, just wanted to inform them of the issue. This is my first time dealing with CS regarding a bad order, pretty satisfied with the results.

If you don't want them I will buy them.

These were mentioned in a couple of different threads recently. I think the consensus was that they are genuine, but packaged very poorly.

bugsy36 says he will buy them from you, I would sell him at least 2 of those.

Mine came the same way, I ordered new wrappers from Fasttech, it will take a while for them to arrive, until then Im not touching those batteries.

All 8 of them look like coming from trash with nicks and dents on them, but I assume that only 2 out of 8 might be unusable and will have to be recycled because they have really deep looking dents on them.
I will see that more clearly when I take the wrappers off before replacing them with FT ones.

Just contact CSGearbest here on BLF and ask for either exchange or to return batteries and receive full refund(they have to cover return shipping themselves) ;)!

Im sure GB will do you fine.

OR, you can sell the most trashy batteries to Bugsy36 for 2.99$ a piece+shipping ;)!

mine looked dirty, like a herd of sheep ran over them. but they are a match when it comes to capacity and amperage.

That is the same for my Samsung 25R. I believe it is ink smudge from the barcode. I already got GB's rep to leave a feedback for their warehouse 1+ mth ago. All new 18650 batteries will adopt a different type of packaging method (e.g one ziploc bag with one barcode for 4pcs of 18650).

GB probably uses steep discount to get rid of the ugly ones.

Run a discharge test on them if you can, then tell us the results.

Offload em to bugsy36. Not worth using possibly fake or possibly damaged cells - it’s really not worth it.

What makes you think they would be fake?
In the pictures they look like genuine, brand new cells with some smudged ink and few tears in the wrappers.

Mine 30Q’s looked exactly the same, but cleaning wrapper with ethanol fixed the mess.

Ethanol will also remove the original 30Q lettering right?

It fades a bit, but is still visible. I will post before/after pics later.

Suddenly reminds me of this ;P #FTpromise.

I think he was joking, check his username.

Not good enough. They’ll still get crushed together in the plastic bag.

Yeah, what is so hard to COMPREHEND that batteries should be shipped in secure packaging!

Fixed!

You guys want individually bubble wrap cell? Are you willing to pay for 15-20% extra for your order?

At least the new packaging method should prevent dirty appearance of the battery. If your battery is damaged during transportation, I am sure you know how to get your money back.

The point is, we order these batteries because we need them to actually USE them and not trash them as soon as they arrive  :D!

So, yeah, few cents on top of battery cost would be acceptable, Im sure that 4x or 2x battery boxes dont cost more than 10-30 cents for retailer ;)!
