I have been running my L6 exclusively on 18650 with printed battery sleeve/adapter, i couldn’t be bother to buy additional 26650 so i just 18650 that i have plenty but if runtime is important you should get 26650 as they are bigger in capacity.

I’m running Shockli 5500 in any of my 3 L6’s, 1 orig black or 2 clears. Little close fit in one of the clears but still works. You’ll need a solder blob or magnets.
On L6 with TA driver I’m getting 4800 lux @ 5 meter for approx 120,000 cd. (4.15v)
Sorry don’t have liitokala to compare against. But definitely an upgrade to Keeppower Protected.
Look at the cells, the Shockli says max current 20A, pulse 30A… the LiitoKala’s say 50A. Should tell the story right there.
Dale, you know more than anyone that you can rarely go by what the wrappers say. If we did, we’d have 6,000 mah 18650 cells. Lol
It seems like the most you can get from the L6, fet, 70.2 combo is about 17 to 18 amps. That’s within range of both batteries.
Of course, the blue liitokala are tried and true. I think the black ones are just as good from the reviews I read. Have the Shockli been tested? I’d like to know more about them.
Who knows, if the Shokli turn out to have more internal resistance and only pull, let’s say 14 amps, they still might be a good choice. The 17.3 amps I’m getting are really up there and it gets hot really fast. I only use full power on very rare ocassions. I might get me a pair of the Shockli just to tame it a little. Know what I mean?
(The 14 amps was just hypothetical. I don’t know anything about that cell).

I don’t know about the “rarely” part, but yeah I do know a few things… the Shockli are a rewrapped Windyfire from what I can gather. I also know that you have to start somewhere, and you can’t discount every cells wrapper lingo just because there have been “miscue’s” in the past. I know everyone shuns Trustfire cells, but their 6,000 mAh 32650 is the best in the class. So perhaps common knowledge isn’t an across-the-board kind of thing?
I have both the sky blue LiitoKala and the new black ones, and I have an L6 with XHP-70.2 and FET driver… making 9,280.5 lumens at 18.16A on the new black LiitoKala cell. The blue ones do 16.48A for 9108 lumens. Surprising, yes?
FWIW, I’ve seen more than one light tested where one name brand cell gave higher amperage, while another name brand cell bests it in lumens output while having less current draw. So it’s not all about the exact numbers.
I also know that it really doesn’t make much difference in the end when you’re pulling 3.6C on the cells (3.6 x the capacity of the cell), the output will drop rapidly as the cells take the hit so the absolute max lumens simply won’t last long enough to really add it all up.
Edit: Another quirky little FWIW…. the Efest 20700 dark metallic purple cell yields 18.71A and 9,591 lumens in this light.
Since the Black and gold Liitokala 26650’s still didnt arrive, and some laptop pulls do the job, but i dont trust my current measurements (20 cm standard hirschmann measuring wire, gave 2,6 A and dropped quickly to 2,4 and lower)
I thought, lets try these, since the efest is out of stock, and they can deliver fast to me

I suppose certain cells can draw the same amps, but do so with different levels of voltage sag. That 20700 you mention probably does 18.7 amps, but at a higher voltage so that’s why you see the higher lumen output.
This is a variable I had not thought of. This new dimension is very interesting.

They seem very good, I’m just wandering if there is anything to be gained from one board to another. We had some really heavy fog roll in Saturday night. Heavy fog looks amazing in the beam of a high powered light.
I set my L6 on the patio and took a few pictures. You could see the water vapor swirling in the air like a micro-snowstorm.
I also had my Q8 prototype near the door so that one had to come out to play too.

Shockli might be too fat?

Is this with SMO or OP reflector?
XHP70 or XHP70.2?
Dome on or sliced off?
I think a better way to compare the batteries would be to measure the amp draw at the tail cap.
What is the Shokli length?

I have 26650 series connector coming from the jaxman.. I forget to mention that.
According from the blf, liitokala battery works best with the FET driver..
Add some wire bypasses so you don’t melt the springs.

Shockli 5500 mAh
Diameter: 26.7mm
Height: 65.3mm
Stock emitter with op reflector was just comparing to my stock driver w KP batteries.
Unfortunately, my inferior amp meter is not good to yeild meaningful results.

I finally got my convoy l6 in xhp70.2.. very nice light, and heavy too..hot spot is big. The side switch is disabled.. only tail switch..
Why would you only want tail switch operation? It’s very awkward to hold like that.
I find it much better to hold in the middle of the light and turn on/off, etc… using the side switch.

Well tailswitch is cheaper.. according from the skylumen, tailswitch l6 is $150. Sideswitch is $170…
I got my l6 testing sample for $120.. so I am happy with that.. skylumen said this l6 is tough mod.. it put out 6500 lumen and 135k lux..
