Another Battery Pack

Following on from my last abortive attempt to create a replacement battery pack. I have another knackered pack that I would like to replace and given the quality of advice I got here before I shall ask again.

The good news is that this one seems a bit simpler. Of course I am assuming I can get the RoadAngel back together again after changing the battery

Photos attached

Sorry about them being upside down

The bit at the end says SMT-NP80 - no idea what it is or does

I may actually be able to dismantle this one without destroying it completely and I have a selection of appropriate cells I can use.

My major question is should I be using a protected or unprotected cell?

Regards

Sean

Hmm - must reconfigure size of photos next time

Apologies to all

Sean

What is this pack from?

The blue board that says SMT-NP80 is a protection circuit. The shiny black pod with two black wires (one connected to the white wire) is a ntc temperature sensor.

Just depends on what’s easiest for you. You could reuse the blue “SMT-NP80” protection board and attach it to a new unprotected cell or you could just connect those wire leads to a new cell that includes it’s own protection.

Its from a RoadAngel - GPS Camera System - that works fine as long as its fed power - but lasts about 3 minutes if power is removed - so I am assuming the cell is less than 100% good

I reused the pcb on an unprotected cell and wonders will never cease the unit powers up again and stays on.

Not doing so well on the satellites atm - but hopefully it will work better outside - or I have broken it

Thanks

Sean

come on man....give us a LARGER photo...

Well I can try - not sure how to make them larger though (and I did apologise)

Hmm - worked it out - but I won’t bother demonstrating the 500% photo - I think that might get me told off
