Gearbest sucks

I don’t know if I should add this to SB ’s vendor review of avoid gearbest, but I am pretty upset with Gearbest ,I have heard of the other members horrid past experiences and I had a couple of bad past experiences as far a Ganzo knife a replacement pill for my unique fire 1405 zoomie.,but now what angers me the most is my youngest son who is just getting into the light seen minor mods etc, and he wanted a decent starter torch beside budget C8s So I talked him into purchasing a Olight SR15 from GearBest and he did .It didn’t last more than two weeks before complete failure,he has sent Gearbest numerous emails witj no response from them other than their automated system. What makes mad is he is a great clean cut young man who just graduated in 2015 and works full time pays for his own college education and helps me with my prescriptions and bills with no complaints and then to have a vendor who doesn’t respond hurts me more than my own one be taken! So if SB wants me to move this post to the vendor review I will or change it I will and I am sorry if Iam venting .

Vent all you want; that's what BLF is for. :)

I had a similar experience with GearBest and an Olight S30.

I say ignore their "customer service" and file a PayPal claim.

...

Of course, there are two sides to every story...

Wherefore art thou, bugsy36? :p

my son didn’t go through paypal,I have an account with paypal that’s what makes me feel bad because I referred him and he trusted me !

How did your son pay?

debit checking account.

I'm sorry to hear that.

He might be out $23. :(

thanks for responding, I can give him the money back,it ,we’ll you know I talked into trusting a unscrupulous vendor and his first transaction they pulled this crap on him so I will continue to bad mouth them from now on.

o light? Would they warranty it?

Even if it was Illumn or Mtn I wouldn’t pay directly from my checking account/debit card. My first advice to your son would be to use PayPal for everything that accepts it.

However, I am sorry he had a bad experience on his first buy.

what’s the saying about hind sight being 20/20?I use pay paypal and pt has saved bacon, but would Olight replace it if we gave them order number and date of purchase?

I honestly don't know, but I do have some advice.

I buy stuff online with PayPal funded by a credit card.

If something goes wrong, I might go through customer service.

If that doesn't work, I do a PayPal claim.

If that doesn't work, I call PayPal on the phone.

And if that doesn't work, I get a chargeback through my credit card.

So far, I've never had to do the last step, but I like having the option. :)

light junkie, is this the same situation that you posted about back in November? Did your son also buy an sr10 back in August?

Wasn’t your son’s August order after you posted that Gearbest was selling fake AWT batteries according to your conversation with Vivian from AWT industries?

I didn’t go through the whole post but it sounds vaguely famiar

Why/what component in the light failed?

Have you contacted the two Gearbest reps on here? If they can’t help you could try contacting the olight rep Ronald.F

The one making crap lights is Olight, not gearbest. Stop buying halfmade products

I have only bad experiences with olight, my S15R had a non working voltage indicator. I guess gearbest cant do anything about it, they just sell the stuff. Thats why you have super cheap prices compared to local stores. You can buy two or three s15Rs for the price of one here

It’s sad that this happened but the truth is it really isn’t gearbests fault .Logically they could say “Hey ship it back and we’ll send you another one ” … or even give you your money back …but why wouldn’t they want the product back in their hands at your cost for shipping .If you were the store wouldn’t you think getting the broken product back is fair ?

Sometimes I think we ask too much from these Chinese vendors . i don’t know but I assume mountain , illum , battery junction or goinggear would say the same thing and be praised for doing the return …problem is the shipping is so expensive for you to ship it back to them . but thats not their fault you knew that going in to the deal . I don’t think gearbest is screwing you at all .it’s not like they knowingly sold you junk . these are considered to be nicer lights and come nicely packaged . i’d be talking to both the reps here on BLF and used that resource even before trying emails . I’d talk to the O’light rep here about it too … Geabests only flaw here is not responding to your emails actively and instead using some dumb automated canned response to emails …but they all do that so it’s hard to fault them too much for it .
I hope O’light steps up and proves it’s a brand worth paying more for ….

I suggest you advise him to use paypal whenever possible opposed to paying directly with his debit card. This goes for all online purchases.

What’s worse than being out $23 for a flashlight is having illegitimate charges continually charged against you because you gave your card number to an unscrupulous vendor.

I was able to read through it ,he
has tried since then and they have ignored his emails since then

Well when I had issues with Banggood about some points earned and lost parts like emitters they sent the automated response first then I Corresponded with Kukka and she went and at least attempted to make things acceptable and she at least responded ,the same with fasttech.
As far as what is wrong with the light ,I don’t know I won’t tear apart and break the loctite seals ,and I or my son shouldn’t have to it was only a couple of weeks old.
However if someone will forward me a link to gear best reps I will gladly have him contact them ,that is another reason I did post here;the combined knowledge of the member here get more results than any other way I know .
