Changed the Utorch UT02 from a boosted XHP-35 thrower to a totally different kind of light… built a Zener modified FET driver with 8.4V LVP and 7 modes with reversing action through the e-switch, stuck it in the UT02 with an MT-G2. Big Smile

Edit: On a pair of 26350 cells fully charged it makes 3600+ lumens. Big Smile
Edit II: Tail current shows 5.96A from the little fat half cells.

Since my C8F white flat re-flow didn’t pan out I put some shaved dome SST-20 4000K’s in an 18650 C8F.

I got 50kcd and ~1,700 lumens

It doesn’t look very centered to me so i’m sure there’s a better result if you just had to have a 95CRI thrower.

Do these cell’s make my tail look fat?

Built a C8 to try out a single unique XP-L HI I bought a while ago.

XPLAWT-H0-0000-000LV20E3

It’s an XP-L HI 75CRI 5000K…when I compare it to a V2 3A I guess I would say it’s about the same spot along the BBL but it’s slightly cooler white?

Anyways, got around 1,270lm and 108kcd.. believe it or not my first C8 mod. The LED is nice but I probably wouldn’t spend $7.35 on it again cause the usual suspects seem good enough (V2 5D and V3 1A)

Well yeah nick, you’re not really going to get throw from a tiny TIR in a multi optic. Black or White Flat either one… the TIR is just too small. You might decrease the hot spot size, but it’s still going to be rather floody, especially outside where distance gobbles up light.

The light in my Avatar has 8 LH351D, 4 of which are W6 power bin 70 CRI and 4 of which are U6 in 80 CRI, there are also 4 XP-L HD and 4 XP-L HI as well as the center de-domed and sealed SST-40. They all work in unison though. Tint overall is quite pleasing, beam quality is somewhat dependent on power level, quite well suited to walking in the lower modes and dang near a stadium light when fully powered up. Smile

Yes, I have HD and HI emitters under the same quad optic, a D4S Ledil Angie in fact. Almost went with some Black Flats but they’re just too low powered. Effectively each of the 17 emitters present here are making 1500 lumens. Might be intersting to use separate drivers and a switch panel….

There is a Zanflare light with 4 independently adjustable heads with switches that allow each head to be turned on or off, perhaps different emitters could be used and different angles set up on the heads to create the flood/throw mixture you’re asking about?

Edit: Nick, have a look at the Zanflare F4 HERE

That F4 is a freaky light.

I was only mentioning the Olsons because of a recent post I saw of a D4 converted to them. The beamshots looked quite throwy for what it was. I just thought it may be interesting to have a small form factor tube light with two different optics and emitter options to give a potentially more versatile light depending on task.

Today I stacked a Convoy C8 driver up to 12× 7135 in total. Flashed with my modified Babka firmware and replaced XP-L HI led with Osram white flat 1mm2 led and Astrolux C8 smooth reflector because it is a tiny bit better than Convoy reflector. Focus almost perfect first time and it throws very well Big Smile

Thanks! I solder at work every day for almost 14 years now. You can minus 3 years from that at another workplace so 11 years of soldering left. But I think I soldered first when I was 8-9 years old Big Smile

For you modders, a battery test… I used the 458 Ham’r with it’s 17 emitters and 5 MOSFET’s to just find out what cell gives what… Big Smile This is a single cell powering the Ham’r, 10 top cells, couple of surprises…

That’s very bad for HG2! Were the cells old, abused or something?

A friend of mine that uses the HG2 also thought that read was low, he expected it to be as good or better than the 30Q. I have two of these, neither are very used cells, but not new either. The 30Q in this test was brand new, first time charged. I’ll recharge both HG2’s I have and test them both again to see if I just got something wrong…

Wieselflinkpro, I think SolderingIron is still a subsidiary Country located in the great Sahara, as a high desert country it’s population is low so shipping quotes may be difficult to find. Nice try though! Wink

A recap on the LG cells…With both of my LG HG2 cells fresh off the charger I see 16.7A and 17.0A from the two cells as tested before on the 458 Ham’r.

I got delivery with some drivers from @Lexel today.

I modded the following flashlights:
- Astrolux MF04S with 8A Narsil Buck-Driver and Mod of battery-carryer. For the battery-carryer I used copper foil instead of a wire to make the new connection.
- Sklilhunt H03 with 3 channel FET + 7 + 1 Narsil
- Haikelite MT09R XHP35HI Sand/Tan with 7,5A Narsil Buck-Driver (for sale in TLF in the next days)

Better he is hungry as he is thirsty. Without food you can survive more days as without something to drink.
