I am new here Smile and looking for a solid USB tester (for USB C and USB A chargers and cables). Two quick questions: where can one buy a genuine ZY1280M (seems like there are some fake ones floating around)? And also are there any comments on the AVHzY CT-3 (same as KT002 / YK001 / UT18) and how it may be better than/differ from ZY1280M?

Any other recommendations?

Thank you all!

Just wondering what’s the difference between ZY1280 and ZY1280M? I seem to recall reading a reference to a minor update to the ZY1280, but can’t exactly recall if it’s called ZY1280M and if there’s any notable difference. You can try AliExpress or Banggood or other online stores (I’m not familiar with Amazon stuff as I’m located in a different part where ordering from Amazon will be too expensive so I typically don’t browse stuff there).

AVHzy CT-3 appears to be a very recent model (as in released just a few short months ago), it’s mentioned here (I suppose there is also some purchase information in that message thread):
https://forum.avhzy.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=190

Based from previous research, the previous AVHzy CT-2 is also the same as the Power-Z KT001 or the Kotomi Pro/Premium.

Just did a little Google search, and it looks like the new CT-3 s also available as the Power-Z KT002, as you referred to, and also the YKLab Shizuku YK001 (I was not familiar with this name [I’m also interested in USB meters and often read about them], and also had to do a Google search — it looks like you’ve done a lot of research about these models already…)

Power-Z has several references to the KT-002:
http://www.power-z.cn/archives/category/course/kt002

YKLab also appears to have a basic website (looks unfinished, but manual page and firmware downloads page has some content)
https://yk-lab.org:666/index.php/category/product-en/

Regarding the “UT18” meter, this seems to be from HiDance/ATorch (which produces or resells many budget-oriented USB meters, some fairly acceptably good for their price). Casual search (just now) seems to show that it’s also similar to the CT-3.

~~~
However, I’d like to point out one thing (I’m not sure if it would apply to the UT18…) — there is a HiDance/ATorch UD18, which appears to be a clone of the QWay (Witrn) Web-U2 USB meter. Judging from my readings, it would seem that the UD18 is an unauthorized clone of the Web-U2, and QWay/Witrn has blocked firmware updating of the UD18 clone (supposedly updating it to the latest QWay/Witrn Web-U2 firmware will brick the UD18 meter).
Now, this makes me wary of the UT18 meter, whether it’s an authorized copy of the CT-3/KT002/YK001 or it’s just a clone… Anyway just mentioning this..
It’s the exact same meter as the RD Tech TC66C reviewed by HKJ:
https://lygte-info.dk/review/USBmeter%20RD%20Tech%20USB%20Meter%20TC66C%...
RD = RuiDeng, which appears to be transliteration of the Chinese company name , but it looks like they modified the brand name slightly to “Riden” so it’s likely easier to pronounce for the English world.
RD Tech (RuiDeng) has an AliExpress store (I’ve bought several of their items before) — it appears they now also changed their store name to “RD Riden Factory Store”
I think YK-Lab is the actual manufacturer. They call theirs the Shizuku by YK-Lab, and the outer case says Shizuku on it. I just bought the AVHzY CT-3, and if I look inside, the circuit board says Shizuku on it, and you can also see that in a picture of the UT18 on AliExpress. Also, the PC software and firmware are labeled as Shizuku, and AVHzY even has a couple links to yklab.org. I updated the firmware of my CT-3 using the software from yklab.org and it worked with no issues. I also found that in one of the information screens on the device that it lists AVHzY as the customizer, and their name appears in several other places within the software, so I think AVHzY, Power-Z, and ATorch are officially working with YK-Lab to sell customized versions.
