I would think this would self destruct in short order being regulated at 2800mah in such a small light
So Ideally I would prefer an ultra compact 18650 with an XM-L regulated at about 1.8-2A I would love a 3 mode HI-MED-LO but I figure I'm going to have to compromise on the modes. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm really not trying to be smart but I just don't get it. What's wrong with having a compact fully driven XM-L? Just use medium mode for regular use and have the option for a great high mode for 5-10 minutes when you need it?

I guess it would be nice to have the full power option, but my lights get passed around a lot. I could see giving one to my nephew's and having them leave it on and burn it up.
I really like the N-Light ST50 It will defiantly be on my list. Its pretty spendy for my blood but it looks like everything I would ever want.
xxllmm4, those lights will heat up real quick, that's around a DRY in DD with the cells with an unloaded voltage of 3.9V. 2 min max bursts and that's it on a hot night or i guess you'd risk burning the emitter. Not sure how's the drop in lux but i reckon it'd be somewhat pretty fast if ambient is not below 15 deg C and no wind.....(referring to my UF-2100). No matter what, they should give off a load of light. You need a !%$@#!$ load of light because these lights are floody.
Not sure how's the PWM but the UF-2100 from dinodirect is 1710Hz. (that's the record for budgetlights, even faster than iTP if you'd consider that as budget as well...no joke). So definitely it is not just a useless pocket rocket.
Definitely the Ultrafires have a nicer surface coating and probably this kind of host feels more solid with slightly thicker walls....not that we'd need it in real life most of the time.
Not sure how much amps it pulls. Else you might want to look at XP-Gs, with the slightly throwier profile, it might suit them better. You can run it for as long a time in these hosts and don't risk burning up.
XXLL, spend the $40 and get an S-mini from Shiningbeam. XM-L @ 1A, very neutral (almost warm) tint, very small. No blinky modes. It is not a thrower, but it is a very impressive, nice quality light, with a good memory function. I think it is one of the best quality lights you can get in that price range and Shiningbeam gives a CPF discount if you want to pursue that.
I have a Yezl Z1X (similar to that FF 2130) that I put a neutral XM-L and 1.4A driver and its just about right if you ask me. 1.7A might be a little better but I wouldn't go beyond that. Unless its just a toy, in which case stick with a stock driver, feed it a Callie's HD, and hold on tight. :)
Thanks for the input, I will keep this in mind for my next purchaces.
In the end I cheaped out and went for the bling http://www.dinodirect.com/led-flashlight-super-bright-1000lm-5mode-cree-t6.html it ended up being about $14.50 after the coupon. Not exactly what I wanted but I think I'll keep this one to myself I figure Ill keep it on med and low most of the time anyway but its nice to have the over the top brightness when needed.
