OK, I just implemented another feature on a trial basis: For years I’ve been wanting to be able to search posts within a thread. I think I worked up a solution, as long as it doesn’t slam the server too hard. To try it out, hit the Search Within Thread tab.

OMG!

Will wonders never cease! Crown

(Okay, okay, it’s only a trial … but this would be a great feature if it lasts.)

THANKS SB !! ..makes it so nice to know where a poster is especially when they sound off about shipping issues or US Sale Only threads etc, etc.

Looks good. This should make a wide variety of tasks much easier. Smile

I’ve already used it several times now… Like, I heard wight made a new driver, and this let me find the thread. It also showed me the story behind a veteran member retiring. And it’s handy for checking what people are interested in or what contributions they’ve made (or if they only post to enter give-aways). Also handy for finding that one picture Dale posted somewhere, or finding the previous time I answered the same question so I can paste it or link to it. Etcetera.

Looks like I automatically subscribe to every thread I post in.

Any way to disable that?

Raccon city’s got jokes? Wink Isn’t that the way the forum previously behaved, pre-update? This is definitely the way I prefer it to operate.

Still fine, still on a break. One day I’ll catch up with you folks! previous wight catchup Wink

The link doesn’t seem to work for me, even after changing the userid to my own.

Just tried the search within thread, great idea and it works too! Now I know where I am again as well.

"It is critical that there is a credible academic source for the growing and important discipline of alternative facts. This field of study will just keep winning, and we knew that all the best people would want to be on board. It doesn’t seem to be enabled for regular users yet. I saw it immediately after the upgrade, but it seems to have been turned off at some point.

The ads on budgetlightform are actually OK, since they’re all flashlight related. Who here doesn’t like looking at various pictures of flashlights???

Sorry for the slowness during the past hour or so. I’ve been tweaking performance settings, which obviously didn’t work out too well. Silly Should be back to normal now, or even slightly better.

Hi everyone, for a few hours today I’m going to temporarily disable the new user posts and thread search features, just so that I can gauge the impact that they are having on server load. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I believe it’s a glitch due to the other functions being temporarily disabled, but at any rate I also temporarily disabled the subscriptions system.

Hi everyone, I’m temporarily disabling the spam moderation and post subscription systems for a few hours to gauge the effect on system load. Sorry for the inconvenience!

@SB, Wink
Today, I noticed that when I try to look at some member’s list of threads it leads to a dead link. Crying
It seems to only happen for some members. Others seem OK.
Btw, the thread listing was working OK yesterday for the same member.

Thank you Very Much,
George

Hi keengeorge, thanks for the, er, keen observation. Big Smile You’re quite right, it was an intermittent issue, and I think I’ve got it fixed now.

Hi keengeorge, thanks for the, er, _keen_ observation. Big Smile You're quite right, it was an intermittent issue, and I think I've got it fixed now.
