Some routers keep a local DNS cache that may be slow to update. There’s probably a feature to flush and renew that cache in the admin panel but its probably easier to just pull the plug and reboot them.
BTW, if anyone is interested, I’ve mostly updated the BLF stylesheet for the Chrome “Stylish” extension.
This basically re-themes BLF to make it a little easier on dark-adjusted eyes — a dark theme instead of the default bright white theme. I put the files up here: http://toykeeper.net/torches/css/
I’m apparently having DNS issues. In my work computer and phone on wifi (home and work wifi) the “slow dns” link just redirects back to the same “we’re back” splash page. I can’t get to blf at all.
On my phone on LTE everything is working perfectly
I’m not able to find the thread tools options where we can change the number of posts per page. It used to be at the bottom of every thread. Is anyone else having the same issue?
Thanks SB! Looking good. I do a lot of IT work myself so I feel your pain. I have a lot of poking around to do. I actually never thought the text was too small but now that I see the difference I like it!
I hope the rest all goes well. Man it’s nice to be back.
Not that the little shoutbox wasn’t fun but this is a lot homier.

Yes, that option doesn’t seem to be available anymore, my apologies.

Aaaaaaand not working again on the pc. Any thoughts? Should it right itself with time?

It seems petty of me to thank TK and Finges in a thread about SB doing huge amounts of work to update the forum that I have come to enjoy and spend ridiculous amounts of time on. But I will start with a HUGE thanks to SB for the obviously large amount of work that has been done to upgrade the site. And follow up with a thank you to ToyKepper and Finges for enabling me to make it so much easier to read with Stylish and the stylesheet.
It looks good! Much improved appearance over the old version. Not that I disliked the old site. But this one feels more modern. Good work, and thank you!
Alright, I think I got the email configured as legit as I can make it in the eyes of the email providers. Even so, AOL, Yahoo, and Hotmail/Outlook/Live users may find some BLF messages in the SPAM folder until those providers get used to us. Please let me know how it works for you.
I also set up a interim system for getting email notifications on threads you really want to keep an eye on. This feature is only temporary until I have time to set up a better system. It includes a list of “Watched” threads, but please continue using the http://budgetlightforum.com/my-subscriptions page to keep track of important posts.
SB, the work you do here is awesome, and thanks for all you did on this upgrade.
For the next update, would we be able to get a NW or WW theme? Would the possibility of reverse clicky buttons be an option too? Lol, just kidding around, thought I would continue the appreciation with some humor…

Ha! When you said “NW” the first thing I thought of is ToyKeeper’s browser themes to override our default color scheme.

As long as we’re asking for upgrades here, I may as well ask if it’s possible to make the front page (Recent Posts) auto-refresh every few seconds so I don’t have to hit my browser refresh button. If so, it might be great to make it switchable, so if someone doesn’t want it to auto-refresh, they can leave it turned off.

Hmm, I can’t really think of an easy way to do that from the server side. However there are browser extensions that do just that.

I’m not sure, but I’ve seen websites that have continually refreshing info. The shoutbox on your BlogSpot page was auto-refreshing.

Actually you just made me think of a common request we used to have— Pager buttons on top of the page in addition to the bottom. With the old version it really truly wasn’t possible. But now it seems to let me hack that in there fairly easily.
Track?

Not quite clear on what it’s suppose to do or if it’s working right. But we did have the ability to check a users posts and threads before.
I imagine it’s because Google hasn’t adapted to our new IP address yet.
Normally the Adsense banner will go farther down, I just haven’t had time to set up our sponsor’s normal banners in their normal positions yet.

Awesome Job! Thank you for your dedication and perseverance!
Ahhh! It’s so good to be HOME!
Nice, you could upload it to https://userstyles.org/ so others could find it more easily.

Ah thanks, only thing I have not checked
So finally my lack of knowledge contributed something to the knowledge base of BLF community

Thanks a bunch again!
